Behind the scenes at ycdtoti.com

As you'll have probably seen on the main messy forum, You Can't Do That On The Internet is coming back! So, as I did with TopGunge a few months back, I thought I'd write some of the story behind the shoot(s) and other related trivia.....and for my ease, I'm doing it in the form of asking myself some questions - if you feel like it, reply with your own questions and I'll try to answer them next time! Enjoy!

<u>Why has it been almost two years since the last update?</u>

Blimey, a nice easy one to start! It sounds lame to say "we just never got around to it" but that's partly true! The background stayed set-up in our studio all that time (albeit hidden behind other things); Leon, Lisa and myself batted ideas back and forth from time to time (there's a good one hopefully coming up for episode six!); mainly though it's because it's the thing we do that's most like a 'real' TV production (and therefore it's the hardest work and the most costly to produce)

Having said all that, I think we've all remembered whilst shooting that it's also really good fun too, from watching the (over) acting by the girls, to having to dream up ideas and scripts, to picking outfits and building scenery. So for all the fans of the site (we know you're out there!) we should be much better at it in 2012!

<u>So where did you start for this episode?</u>

Errr....we started by deciding what we couldn't do. That sounds an odd-way around, but time, money and other factors meant we had to postpone the main plot idea that we wanted to do and instead write plots and scripts from scratch. Ella is doing really well at the moment and so she was unable to come back as the host - sad in one sense but it gave us a perfect plot idea to 'hang' the show on......"Where's Ella?" Steffi (the Director) has also moved away from us since we last shot, but she was happy to come back for an evening to reprise her favourite role! Thanks Steffi!

<u>reparation</u>

Build a restaurant set...check! Build a pie-factory...check! Repair the main stage and put down a new floor....check!

Actually it's not quite as simple as it sounds and took about three days.....my personal highlights were getting out of doing the wallpapering for the restaurant (although I think when you see it you'll agree Leon and Megan did a fantastic job!) Also we finally got the white lattice thing working properly....just before we have to take it down to move studios! Oh well!

<u>Day One - The Restaurant</u>

The first day filming was with Megan and Jazz....we had the 'restaurant' built, we had the food bought and prepared...then we hit a problem.....Jazz turned up and could barely talk. A sudden loss of voice meant we could barely hear her, not a problem 9-out-of-10-times, but more serious for a scripted scene! So we scratched our heads and came up with a small change that made it work......New plot: Megan takes Jazz to a restaurant and think's she's being rude because she's not talking to her - hence the tit-for-tat food-fight starts! Three rather large and messy courses later and we had the middle segment of the show done! I have to say the girls did a great job trashing each other and (for once) Lisa didn't steal the scene as the long-suffering waitress! Also, listen out for Megan's ad-libbing at the end! Very very funny!

<u>Day Two (early) - The Pie Factory</u>

After the fab restaurant set, we went a bit more low-tech for the pie-factory, concentrating mainly on getting a working conveyor belt for the pies, and relying on marker pens for writing the sign on the wall telling you where we were! However (even if I do say so myself) I wrote a funny script, Jess and Lola turned up, tried to learn it, learnt *most* of it and off we went! The basic plot was Lola was the strict Quality Control person and Jess was the bored-daydreaming employee, and (as you'd expect) it quickly turned into a two girl pie-fight! After that, Lola had to leave but we had one more small scene for Jess, doing a 'thinking-out-loud' scene and getting messy even when she just thinks "I Don't Know"!

<u>Day Two (late) - The Main Stage</u>

Later that same day Steffi arrived and then Ali, Alice, Boo, Lauren and Rebecca-Jane turned up too! That was everyone we needed (oh, nearly forgot Lisa who was already there!)

Now, this next bit has PLOT SPOLIERS! Therefore I'm going to stop now and continue in a few days time! Hope you enjoyed the behind-the-scenes blog, remember, if you post questions, I'll try and answer them next time!

SOOOO looking forward to this.

Have you ever thought about trying to approach a tv channel with the idea of getting a broadcast? With a bit of luck it would create some controversy and get even more attention.

Fantastic! Some of my favorite producers have left the UMD over the past year or so, but thankfully the YCDTOTV isn't quite dead yet. Thanks for returning!!
