A grim reminder

A tragedy has occurred near where I live. A young man drowned at a local swimming spot. It has impacted me because It is where I go to participate in my wet look fetish. I started going down there in winter this year and spring to go wading fully clothed. Now, I know that there is a difference between wading and swimming, and that I stick to the shallows mostly.

I don't know how this local man drowned, but it is just a reminder, a very grim reminder to myself that when I go out there, I am all on my own, and the local man had people with him. It really has hit home.

A twenty-one-year-old bloke, with life and all of its adventure's ahead of them.

Sorry to hear that- very unsettling when it's your local spot. It was reported in the Guardian noting that the RLSA have recorded 30 cases in December alone. That alarming statistic sent me down a rabbit hole on their website - after beaches, rivers and creeks are the 2nd-most common location. The Guardian report described the person as 'not surfacing' so must have been in deep water. If it's any consolation, falls (I assume the main risk in shallows) accounted for only 6% of cases, and alcohol plays a part too.
