(I don't want to break any UMD rules with this post, as I'm fully aware that for most of us the root of our fetish goes back to our formative years, so do be considerate with your responses.)

I'm interested to know if you can remember your very first experience of seeing or experiencing something messy and being inexplicably and magnetically attracted to it, whether it happened to you or someone else, on TV or for real. What was it about that moment that captured your attention?

For me it was television gameshows like so many of us, namely the ones from 80's UK Saturday morning TV, such as Motormouth, and the slime cauldron that Grotbags the witch had. I never really got what was going on but thought it looked really fun, and I used to go out and sit in muddy puddles (often naked), pretending that Grotbags had thrown me in.

I think the real magnet moment though was on Funhouse. I've always loved girls with long pretty hair, even since pre-pubescent ages, and especially when it was worn in plaits. I remember in an episode of Funhouse a girl with long blonde plaits got covered in red gunge. I was blown away. Girls weren't meant to get messy, and her pretty hair was absolutely slathered in goo. It was fascinating. I think that might have been the moment that sealed the deal - "did the damage" in my psychological formation and made me have a WAM fetish.

Can you remember a specific moment that MIGHT have been the turning point in creating "you"?

Seen a few random mud or boggy scenes on TV but never thought much of it until a friend in back in the high school days showed me UMD here which is how I found this site in the first place in the early 2000's.

She knew of a thick peat boggy cove at a lake near by but she didn't feel comfortable going alone her self. I was intrigued and went with her on a hot summer day, we had a blast there but were also stupid teenagers back then nearly getting our selves killed there too in the deeper end, I posted the story a couple years ago on UMD here. We began laughing away after the whole ordeal and we got to the edge crawling our way out covered in that shit. From there I loved mess and have been into it since, to mud clay slime whatever the fuck it is.

I've revisited that place a few times but with flotation as a failsafe, you can find pics of the place in an album of mine..

No question. For me it was the Three's Company pie fight. Just the beautifully baked pies and the circumstances that to the fight where it happens by accident. When Joyce Dewitt got hit with the pie and she truly looked shocked with cream and chocolate splattered all over her face, I was in awe. Plus just how Joyce even says the word "pie" multiple times in the episode. Love it. Those chocolate pies made such a mess.

For me, it was unquestionably the short (but very memorable) paddling and gunge sequence in FRATERNITY ROW.

For me, the rather clichéd Noel's House Party was my first memory of being excited by something that I did not yet fully understand. Every Saturday Night was a build up to a funny feeling inside. I have memories of seeing the gunge vote, being disappointed if a woman was not potentially at risk of being gunged, or waves of a feeling, almost like pangs of anxiety that if it was man vs woman in the vote that she would escape the gunge. Even back then before i fully understood the world of Wam, even before I found any community like this, or even had access to the internet, I knew this was something that just made me excited.

One particular memory was staying at a friends house, they had an episode of NHP on, I'm 90% certain that it was the Anthea Turner vote. My friends older sister was there as it was the time when the whole family would watch Saturday night tv together. Quite vividly I remember her mum said during the actual gunging that if the sister didn't behave, she would be set up for a gunging just like that! My friends sister was really quite afraid that she would be on TV humiliated. A possibility in them days with the NTV segment for anybody that remembers. I just remember wishing that one day that would happen to her as I had a crush on her at the time!

Interesting question. As far as I know, I've been attracted to it all my life. My first memory of being attracted to something like that was way back when I was young, I saw something on TV right before bedtime. It might have been Wild and Crazy Kids. I'm not certain. This huge group of kids of maybe 20-25 had a huuuuge pie fight. Interestingly enough, it was a girl that sticks out in my head the most. Everyone was completely covered and hurling pies everywhere. I remember constantly getting up to use the bathroom. (That was waaaaay before puberty hit you understand.)

Not specifically "WAM" or messy, but seeing Rebecca Romijin painted blue as Mystique in X-Men might have been the first time I realized I was attracted to women covered in a transformative substance (ie. body paint, oil, etc.). Then it evolved to things like chocolate and mud.

This is a really interesting question that I have tried to unpick about myself over the years.

It was really early - formative years early. I vividly (but not exactly clearly) remember images of How Dare You? being on our telly, and there being people falling in/sat in huge pools of gunge, growm ups sat on stools getting splattered, some kind of a wheel contraption that seemed to 'churn' the gunge. I remember a 'funny/fuzzy/electric tingle' feeling that was almost already bound up ith feelings of embarrassment or , worse, shame. NHP, Saturday morning gunge (especially gunge em in the Dungeon) and GYOB followed until I grew into an understanding (even if i didn't know the words) of what this hyperarousal was. Now, when I google when for example How Dare You was broadcast, I must have been super young.

I'm sort of interested in finding out what flipped the switch, but also wary of getting too navel gazey or disturbing some pretty difficult shit I had growing up.

So, in summary, started very early & definitely seems to be here to stay!

Two scenes stick out for me when I was little.
The Pies on the Wall sketch from Sesame Street where Maria, in a gown, pies three guys in tuxedos while singing Cream Pies on the Wall song. Then at the end she is pelted with pies (POORLY!!). So, I saw this before I was a sexual being but the scene made me breathe faster, my heart pound and I felt very anxious. I soooooooo much wanted Maria to get pied watching that scene and HATED (but deep down this made the scene more exciting) seeing the guys get pied by her. One time when this scene came on while I was watching Sesame Street, I ran into the kitchen to avoid it because it made me feel so funny.

Similar scene-- still lost to history-- is the "Oops" sketch from Electric Company where Rita Moreno, dressed as a waitress, messes up customer Crank while, with each humiliation, she says "Oops." Then, at the end, Crank gets her back by deliberately messing her while saying "Oops"-- I THINK he pies her at the end but my memory is faded beyond repair here. Again, the build up here (will the pretty woman get humiliated too?) was exciting and made me feel good but uncomfortable. I have said it before on here, but I would probably pay decent money for a good copy of that Oops scene.

What is interesting to me is that the type of scene and the early impact (pre-puberty) it had on me probably has imprinted me with the type of WAM scene I most enjoy. I still really like mainstream scenes. I very much prefer pies in the face. I like silly, slightly humiliating slapstick. I do not need nudity or sex in my WAM-- pies and slapstick and a pretty woman are all that I want. If, however, I had developed this fetish later, I might have preferred nudity and the accoutrements of porn.

I was very young, and it was two certain TV shows that will remain nameless, but let's just say I had recurring dreams where I ran a messy obstacle course, and said the words "I don't know" on a jungle gym-esque set.

It usually involved copious amounts of nudity, either myself or busty ladies. I had no clue why I found it so exciting.

Later, once I knew what sex was, I had my first wet dream, which involved several beautiful naked ladies taking turns placing their tits in a sort of machine/sink/toilet type thing and pulling a lever to release green slime. I know it sounds a bit weird, but I'd actually pay money to have that dream again (and I'd pay even more if there was a way to give Messtique a starring role).

As a kid I enjoyed seeing girls soaking wet at the beach. I enjoyed ycdtot slimings and water. I realized that I had the fetish while watching the famous Brady bunch pie fight as a kid. That's when I realized that I liked it.

Just been taking a walk down memory lane, and there was definitely Gunge em in the Dungeon (or possibly a similar gameshow - I seem to remember a room with about 10 gunge tanks up each wall, and contestants had to sit in the various tanks and whether they got gunged or not seemed fairly random to me at the time...)

Also I think one of the slime pool games I used to watch was Skull which was part of CITV's Ghost Train - that type of thing was definitely a motivator for me going out and jumping in the mud puddles!

One thing I noticed (probably due to recycling components of various sets) is that all the BBC game shows had a sort of glitzy bright feel to them, and (basically excluding Funhouse which was bright) many of the CITV shows (on Saturday mornings) had a dungeonesque dark feel to them as if they all took place in some... well - dungeon.

You only have to put two and two together to work out why this MIGHT have evolved into something more in adulthood!

My attraction to WAM began at a really early age. I remember being in classroom watching an episode of Fun House Fitness. Some girl with long blonde hair lost a final challenge and was turned into an ice cream sunday (somewhat reluctantly but VERY comprehensively) as the credits played and the episode ended. I was so shocked! This poor cute girl my age got a few silly questions wrong, and got fully obliterated with mess for it?! I think it was even more shocking to me that it happened while the credits were rolling, because it was almost like the show didn't even care to make it a main event. Like they could care less that they were humiliating her for entertainment. It somehow made it even more humiliating.

I recall having a very scared but intrigued feelings about WAM for a long time because of that. I felt *loads* of sympathy for girls who got slimed or pied - especially when the event involved multiple items of mess, or where the victim was lightly restrained (the pie pod sort of did this for me; so did one kids' TV show where a mom was locked in a "pie guillotine;" so did an episode of Big Brother where a woman was placed in a hot dog bun while contestants practically drowned her in ketchup and mustard). These were situations that I almost couldn't bear to watch because of how embarrassing and inescapable they seemed - each woman had already signed up for something, but wasn't quite aware of just the extent to which she'd be slopped up and destroyed for millions of people's momentary enjoyment, and it was too late for her to say "nevermind" by the time she was practically being forced into an onslaught of mess.

I still feel the same way now - except it turns me on at the same time . I pretty much exclusively watch videos of women getting pied hard and slimed well. The idea of being a victim of such a public and reluctant messy attack also gets me going, but I'm simultaneously mortified of the idea. I'm a conventionally attractive younger man and have avoided situations like this in my own life. I was part of a group on a college campus where, as a tradition, freshman would pie the hell out of members of the group. Several freshman warned me they were going to obliterate me with pies. I skipped the event

I remember that room with the 10 gunge tanks...youhad yo go & sit in one and it was either a dry one (points to your team) or green gunge. I can't find it anywhere. I want to say it wasa Spy/codebreaker themed gameshow?! Again though, i must have been very little.

I have very vivid memories of that same anxiety when NHP was on. But rather than realising I liked it, I went the other way avoiding watching the show.
Although in hindsight maybe i just avoided it as I find Noel Edmunds so annoying.

Fairly certain it was seeing the Bionic Woman having her hair washed. Like others have said, way before puberty, but the arrow struck then.

I'm not entirely sure if this was the earliest but it's definitely among. I was watching You've Been Framed (believe it was the Jeremy Bradley days) and there was a scene where all these young people (like maybe teens /twenties) lined up and put their arms around eachother's shoulders, and we're basically playing what I guess was some part game where you'd get a kiss on the left cheek and then turn to your right and kiss the next person on the left cheek, and along like so in a kind of chain. Anyway there was one super hot girl
in the middle and the guy who got to kiss her was the lucky one, but as he turned his face from left to right to kiss her she had actually been holding up a pie which he smeared his own face through. Then he drops down and runs out the back in embarrassment and she just kisses the next guy. Probably why I'm more of a "humiliation" wammer than a sensualist one!

Also oft-forgotten: "It's Tough At The Top": http://www.ukgameshows.com/ukgs/It%27s_Tough_at_the_Top ...the giant board game (complete with gunge slide if you landed on the wrong square) on The 8.15 From Manchester in 1990, early Comic Relief gungings in the late 80s, and the gunge slide quiz on The Really Wild Show ca. 1993. Those are my earliest TV gunge memories. The first few times I saw people being gunged on TV I found it frightening and upsetting (ca. 1988, when I was 5-6) but by 1990 I found it arousing and tantalising. It wasn't just the quiz/jeopardy angle and the thrill/fear of humiliation, but specifically the idea of being gunged by the male host - I remember really wanting Ross King to send me down that gunge slide.

Looking at this and thinking of what I can say that doesn't break the rules, I remember being mainly frustrated, as at the time, any gameshow or sitcom that featured pies or gunge were exclusively received by men, apart from the odd time on Tiswas.
It also reminded me I've never seen a woman pied or gunged in real life either, closest I came was a local pantomime, I was high up though, and during tge finale singalong where all the performers stood in a line, singing a song, I was looking for an actor that was beautiful, and wearing navy blue hosiery, and corset, (my favourite colour ) and when I saw her she had a paper plate in her hand, and had wiped almost all the flan and cream off her face, sang for about thirty seconds, then wandered off..so close..

The first memory I have was watching some clip or promo for Mr. Belvedere where a kid got cake batter or something dumped over his head and not understanding it and feeling awful for the kid. Gradually saw more, like Daffy Duck or Elmer Fudd taking pie after pie no matter what they did... then came WWYD while I was in middle school maybe that's when my wires got crossed. I remember an episode some guy drew a card or lost something and Woody the Woodpecker was part of the show and came over a pied the guy.

It's fun to watch beautiful women be pied or have pie fights, but my deepest still reflects those early TV memories with pies, slime and humiliation. I don't want to be in front of people but I want to compete and lose on stage and be on the receiving end of all of the messy humiliating forfeits. Or be victim of some clown sketch where whatever plan I hatch or tactic I try backfires in my face. Or be the victim in the pillory as every audience member lines up, picks up a pie and smashes them in the face as the credits roll.

Also, there is something about being gunged or pied during the credits, where the end isn't seen. It's like the message is "You're the loser and the butt of all of the jokes. When the audience turns off the television your humiliation continues... maybe the pies continue or you will be left tied up in that mess while the winners and audience who saw your humiliation go home. "

Watching the Elvira mistress of the dark tar and feather scene when it was first available for home rental. I also liked watching gameshows but didn't get cable tv until a few years later. Also used to like the Susan Lucci car commercial pie scene. Avoiding saying ages but really dated myself here. What was funny was arguing over the tv wanting to watch ycdtotv while siblings wanted to watch Mickey Mouse Club. Loved watching Christine and Lisa get slimed. I remember saying the kids on the MMC were lame and would never do anything after that crappy show. Years later they were Justin Timberlake, Keri Russel, Christina Aguilera, and Britney Spears. Still ycdtotv had Alanis and actress Elizabeth Mitchell(Juliet from Lost and Linda from the movie Gia.)

The first time I became aware of it was pre-puberty, a comedy sketch (Cannon & Ball) where after a bizarre bit in a restaurant, one picked up a dinner plate and tipped the contents into the other's trousers. And somehow I knew I wanted to have that done to me.

A couple of years later, puberty happened, and TISWAS was on TV - I saw women in jeans get very wet and messy and realised the sexual connection, and then there were a whole spate of TV shows that included messy games, some of them featuring women in boilersuits, which a look I already loved, so seeing them get messy dressed like that was even better.

A couple of years after TISWAS, age 14 or so, cycled down the coast one hot summer's day, and while paused for a rest at the top of a beach, saw a man, assisted by his teenage son, pick his wife up, who was wearing jeans and a top, carry her into the water, and put her down full length in the waves, instantly soaking her. The teenage lad's sister complained she'd been left out so they soaked her too, and all four ended up rolling about in the water laughing. Obviously just having a laugh to them, but I so wanted to be able to get soaked with someone.

Started packing a change of clothes on the bike and exploring for secluded wet or muddy places where I could change clothes and then get soaked or covered in mud, going into the sea afterwards to wash off (seawater is amazing for getting mud out of clothes), before changing back into dry stuff to go home in.

That's the show! Remember thinking those gunge tanks looked great, being tirn between desperately being the kind of kid who got to go on suxh gameshows, and knowing that I 100% would not. I was so embarrassed/uncomfortable I couldn't evern stay in the room sometimes if a gunging like that came on telly. Would have been similar time, I think, to gunge contraptions on ahows like Clockwise.

And I remember Its Tough At The Top on 8 15 from Manchester!! Remember the gunge slude and craving a go on it. Remember wishing it was a bit deeper too.

And yeah, the comic relief gungings seemed to get built up to all week!!

This is one great thing about UMD. You find someone of a similar age and you share a lit of the same hazy memories. Piecub, we are so on the same wavelength!

I have no real clue what the origin of it is for me. It's just kinda always been there. This comment above, about seeing girls soaking wet MIGHT have been a very early initial variation of it for me before morphing into full-on savory-level mess type stuff. Then again, maybe it was always that, too. It all generally goes back far enough that I can't remember. Guess I was born with it.

Around age 5 (and I know all you kids here weren't born yet). For wetlook, I remember a Mickey Mouse Club episode where Annette and other girls were pushed in the lake plus a pretty teenage babysitter who told me she had jumped in the pool several times wearing shorts as part of a skit. (We're talking late 1950s here).

I don't remember anything that specific for pies but I suspect it was a combination of the TV variety shows which often included pretty women as pie targets and the Saturday morning local TV showings of Three Stooges, Laurel & Hardy, and other slapstick comedies.

I'll go back to gumming my dinner now and turn up the hearing aids.
