I was looking though my old content and found a scene from my least favorite mess type that I tried a few years back; savory. I used beans, spaghetti sauce, and a few other things that did nearly nothing for me in a WAM setting. Has anyone else experimented with WAM in a way that was unsuccessful like this? If so; what substance did you try and just not care for?
I've never tried them, but savory and mud don't interest me. Personally, I don't enjoy watching savory mess vids, I can imagine the smell and it turns me off. I understand why others do, but it's not my thing. Something I did try that didn't go to well shampoo. Looking back, I don't know why I tried it but, I thought it could be an interesting slime substitute. It was really tough to wash off, and clear my eyes, but the bathroom smelt good after the fact.
Wow...I thought I was like the only person that had absolutely zero interest in savory messes, I agree with other folks who replied to this, savory does nothing for me, and I actually, somewhat ironically I guess, find it kinda gross for the most part
Savoury's definitely up there, but I think it's edged out for my least favourite mess by anything dark brown, on account of my brain immediately goes "that's shit, that is" and catapults me right out of my happy place.
Weirdly, I don't have this same problem with eating chocolate stuff, only wamming with it.

I second the red gunge, I don't mind chocolate slime but that's as far as I'll go on the brown/black spectrum of slime color, anything darker than chocolate slime doesn't really do anything for me, kinda the same on red, if its kinda lighter, I might be able to give it a pass, but if it's dark its obviously too close to blood
Shaving foam doesn't really do anything for me, either to watch or in person. I mean, I can think of scenes with shaving foam pies that are silly and fun, but I'm not really excited by it as such. Savoury stuff is pretty mixed in its appeal too - things like beans are too much like thin liquid with solid bits it, and don't have the thick, clinging gloopiness that appeals to me.

Still learning about different but in general if I can't clean up alone with what I'm working with I tend to wait it out and maybe collaborate with someone.
Slime or gunge. The moment I see synthetic mess that's not food, it's an instant turn off and I back out. I dread seeing the telltale blue or green colors in the mess. It ruins an otherwise great scene or pic for me. Shaving foam is the same. Very fake looking pies are sort of in the same category but not as bad.
Somehow I'm okay with mud to some extent, but again not when it's "manufactured" or mixed together for WAM. It's got to look natural.
Unfortunate, really, considering how popular slime seems to be.
WAM isn't really about the humiliation factor for me. It's about the tactile and visual. I don't want to be cold, wet, and miserable. I want to be warm, slippery, and in bliss.
This is why I like things like slime, gunge, oil, and pudding. They give a good look, feel, and don't tend to have overpowering smells. Plus you can have sex in most of that with little to no worry.
Maple syrup, a total disappointment. Too runny, not a great texture, and not a nice smell. I felt barfy for a while afterwards due to the lingering hypermaple smell in my nose. 0/10 would not do again.
Mustard. I once did a scene involving condiments (Tomato Ketchup, BBQ Sauce, Mayo and Mustard). In one of my most dumbass moves ever I never considered how much the mustard might sting/burn my outer skin. Powered on through the scene to complete it, occasionally applying a handful of BBQ sauce or Ketchup to soothe whichever bit of my skin most felt on fire.
To add further insult to injury I was not aware that cumin in mustard also at one time used to be used as a yellow dye of which it demonstrated its abilities by causing hundreds of pounds of damage to equipment and props. As such the horrific smell from the Mayo once it had warmed up further as I showered off was only number 3 on the list of bad ideas from that one scene.
Otherwise I'm usually fine with other savoury WAM - just won't go near mustard ever again.
The only areas of WAM I've not really tried anything with is anything involving natural bodies of water or mud. I used to do a lot of whitewater kayaking when I was younger and we used to have it drilled into us to be extra cautious around still bodies of water and mudflats due to the risks from leptospirosis (Weil's disease). That indoctrination was enough to ensure I made my own mud for mud scenes than go and find a natural location.
For me, most savoury stuff is a little off due to the smell, although I do enjoy tinned spaghetti for some reason. The one I don't like that most people seem to is eggs - just too runny and slippery, so you don't get a mess that sticks - it just slides off and goes on the floor and the texture isn't as pleasant as you'd expect. Couple that with getting hard sharp bits of shell in there and you've got a recipe for total WAM failure.
Tried custard and regretted it pretty quick. The smell and taste put me right off, its possibly the fastest I've jumped into the shower! (Custard scenes now put me off too as a result).
Also learned the hard way to avoid using cheap red food colouring in homemade slime- again smell (beetroot).
Also I have to agree on the savory stuff; not my thing and falls well and truly into the camp of "tolerate occasionally for a very lucky partner" (unlike the above which is "no way no how").
Shampoo/Shower Gel was the first stuff I'd sploshed with. At the time *very* enjoyable, however it just wasn't as good going back to it after trying "proper gunge" (Natrosol- hot pink!)

Totally agree on shell bits, when we use eggs they are pre-cracked into bowls, glasses, or jugs, to ensure no bits. But the thing eggs are great for is pouring into jeans, they are about the only thing that will stain through proper denim. Denim is usually regarded as the ultimate wetlook material because of how it changes colour as it gets wet - you can always tell when jeans are wet - but back when we started we were surprised to find that other "wet" things like custard or slime, don't show through, you can fill a girl's jeans with lots of either and the jeans stay dry looking for ages - way too long for a video scene. Raw egg on the other hand will show through immediately, same as oil or water will, with the added bonus that the girl gets a lovely squelchy feeling where the egg is sliding in her clothes, rather than just feeling wetness. They are best for clothes filling though, trying to use them on the outside and they just bounce or slide off.
Dekuthehero said: Unpopular Opinion: Pies. I know 99% of the stuff on here is Pies but it does nothing for me. I watched a pie scene and sure the model was cute but i just dont get the same reaction as mud, or chocolate or paint.
Same here, but also add slime and shaving cream (which is really just bonded soap suds) to the mix. Anything that's too easy to wipe away by hand isn't exciting because I know that it'll can be washed off without effort. I'm not suggesting something that is very hard to clean. It just needs to be sticky during the scene, like with mud/clay, paint, marshmallows, liquefied peanut butter, and maybe chocolate.
And I'm on the same boat with mixed messes, especially when mixing different food substances with non-food ones. It pretty nauseating to watch food and condiments I know the taste of be tainted.
Flour is a big no for me, it's a pig to get out of your hair, also I don't splosh with paint or oils. So long as I can swallow it I'm happy to splosh with it.
I would have to agree with eggshells, followed by other solids, such as glitter, sprinkles of any kind, chopped nuts (in a sundae scene), or anything else that is hard and solid and scratchy. In my mind, textures of wam ought to be a range of slippery, thick, slimy, gooey, etc. and the only 'lumps' should be smooth, such as beans, not egg shells. Even dry flour is not 'wam' in my opinion, yet mixed with water and either oil or dish soap (so it won't stick to hair), it becomes a lovely, gloppy glue or even a bread-dough-like substance.
So let's keep the 'wet' in 'wet and messy' and say goodbye to the dry and scratchy substances.
Absolutely hate savoury. I have had it fine, quite a few times actually especially when starting out and would arrive for a session so incredibly grateful and polite that I wouldn't say 'no thanks'. I will put up with it in a wider context if the gungee really, really wants to see me get it...but it's definitely turn off time for me.
I am borderline 'phobic' about one particular foodstuff...and I did get a LOT of it dumped over me once unexpectedly as part of a session that up until then I'd really enjoyed...but my gag reflex reached new level of spasm that day.
Interesting other people have said red gunge...me too, just too easy for it to look like a splatter horror movie.
Also not crazy keen on anything watery...until its plenty of hot soapy water at the end of a good long session.
My least favourite mess i used was Beef Gravey.I made it really thick so it would run down my head face it was like Sunday roast being poured over you.All i could smell was beef for a week. LOL..
