I am not for sure for this year. But, I know all the models were pied & a contestant was pied a couple years ago. I only saw the beginning of the show and the theme was pies for pie day. But, I has to leave before any pieings. Have they done more Pieings for pie day videos for other years with Drew Carey or Bob Barker. I know there was a watering of Holly one year
Once upon a time, I heard Holly one of the show's most iconic female models recount that the primary reason she got the gig was because they were looking for a model who would take a pie in the face for a skit they were planning. She was the only one who said yes.
We've entered this incredibly interesting phase, however, in which objectification of women on television is less acceptable and, increasingly, men are being objectified and humiliated often with a WAM-y twist, e.g., male models stripping to their underwear in Ellen's dunk tank, a male Calvin Klein model getting slimed in his underwear for the launch of The Splat, and now this.
Not everybody will agree, but I for one couldn't be happier!
It's Pi Day (March 14) and for "The Price is Right," which means announcer George Gray isn't getting away from the show without a face full of pie.
While host Drew Carey made it away from the show with a clean face, it took no time at all for two of the show's models to smash pie into Gray's face during the showcase showdown. Of course, two pies simply weren't enough.
Instead, as Gray continued to detail the prizes up for grabs, he received a steady stream of pies to the face. While the crowd was delighted and the show's models certainly seemed like they were having a good time, the two contestant's vying for the showcase were too distracted by the lavish prizes to notice Gray try to get through his pitch without erupting into a fit of laughter.
Luckily, by the time the last pies came flying, he smartened up and at least tried to dodge them. However, trying to duck the pies only means they're going to smash them onto the top of your head. Better luck next year, George! Perhaps Drew will take the ceremonial pie in the face.
