Due to our current data center losing their building lease, TheMothership/Vidown/TheWamStore and all associated stores and content servers are moving to a new location over the next few weeks. The two locations are only a couple of miles apart so the downtime from the physical move of each machine will be minimal, but all sites will be getting new IP addresses. Depending on how fast your ISP updates THEIR records, there may be a day or two where you will have problems accessing one or more sites.
Note that your computer caches IP information for each site you visit, so even if your ISP has the new records, you may also need clear out your computer's cache. You can do it "live" on the command line, but the easiest way on Windows and Mac devices is to simply reboot them.
Since we are moving to a facility that we own (had to build it ourselves - if you want something done right...), this should be the last time we'll have to move for quite awhile.
Houghten said: Have you started the move already? I can access Vidown itself but not download any of my purchases.
Which is going to be pretty infuriating in ~40 hours when they expire.
(Yes, I have already tried restarting my PC and also ipconfig /flushdns)
I found your order and added an extra week to be safe. I just now finished configuring that particular server in the new location, so give it a couple of hours at least.
After 3 days, we have finally gotten all the content servers, network switches & cables, DNS servers, power controllers, and drawers full of spare parts moved to the new facility.
Now comes the ugly part - the master server. This one controls all the billing systems, catalog generators for every store at Vidown and TheWamStore, and most of our email systems. Pretty much everything is going to be offline for a couple of hours starting right about....
... aaaaannnndddd, we're back! Traffic is flowing, mail is arriving. Looks like we're good to go. Might still take a day or two for some people to see the new locations.
"Now witness the firepower of this fully ARMED and OPERATIONAL Mothership!"
