Did anyone get to the point of buying so much content here you are running low on hard drive space, I have over 300gigs worth of video files
I didn't buy much for a bit as there wasn't a whole lot that tickled my fancy but now a lot of content has been pushing the right buttons for me and I also swopped up some classic items too.
lol - I thought 'running out of space' was so 2010's! [Checks own SSD space... looking good so far!]
But yeah, good 'problem' to have, though, right?!?!
HD/4K content can use up some space. I have several VR files that are 5-8GB each. But luckily storage space is pretty cheap. You can get a couple TB of decent storage for under 100 bucks.
I have run out of space a few times but I just buy a bigger external harddrive. I also keep everything backed up on Mega. I currently have 3TB of WAM on my harddrive.
If you don't want to buy diskspace, I would recommend using handbrake to reencode and shrink the file sizes. I did not know they sold hard drives that small. You can get a 1TB WD Black on Amazon for like 70 bucks.

There's always a chance they can fail, and they all will if you use them long enough. Just make sure you have everything backed up online somewhere so you dont lose everything when they do. Solid State Drives are generally more reliable since they dont have moving parts like an HDD does, but any of them can fail.
I lost every WAM video I had years ago because I relied only on a shitty Seagate HDD. It failed under warranty so they replaced it, but they couldn't get my data off of the old one so they sent it back. A generous chunk of my videos were replaced by some really nice producers here who saw my order history and allowed me to redownload those videos without buying them all again, but some of that stuff was meetup videos and my personal WAM videos that didn't exist anywhere else.
All I have left of those meetups are screenshots and pictures I had saved to my computer, and all those personal videos are gone, probably forever. Learned a hard lesson that day to switch to SSD and backup everything in the cloud. I still have the old Seagate in case technology catches up someday and I'm able to pull something off of it.
Yeah, I've got almost 1tb worth of files, I've had to go back through and delete stuff every now and again, but that's fine. I quite enjoy going through and filtering stuff out every once in a while
Just means the stuff that's there is stuff more in line with my tastes, not every scene I've purchased is or every vid from every member site is going to be for me taste-wise
It's nice knowing what is left there is probably a winner, so I can hit one at random and 9/10 I'll enjoy it

Yep....I learned my lesson with Seagate external drives several years ago. I bought 2 of them and after a few months they both developed what is well known as "the Seagate click of Death" . Once you start hearing a clicking sound you know you had better move your files PDQ. Both drives failed within a month after they started emitting clicking noises.
After my bad experiences with Seagate drives I switched to buying Western Digital drives and so far WD drives have been solid and reliable.
I mostly buy the smaller WD Drives that are 4TB in size. I steer clear of the very largest drives because Soundguy of The Mothership is an expert on drives and their failure rates and he said that the very largest drives are more prone to failure and the smaller drives are more tried and tested and more stable. i.e. it is better to buy 2 x 4TB drives for $120 each, than to buy 1 8TB drive for $240 etc.
I am not a techie, but Soundguy is and he can provide more info on drive reliability.
All I know is, I trust Western Digital (I have 8 of them, all running fine for years) and I don't trust Seagate drives.

If it is not constantly clicking yet, I have had this work. I had an external drive that would not read but was not clicking yet. Tossed it in the deep freeze for a few days and then plugged it in and I got one read out of it. Didn't get everything off, but got some stuff.

Western Digital and Samsung SSDs are all I use. Western Digital just works and there is a reason why they are so heavily relied on for CCTV DVRs/NVRs.
