Having spent some time in the US I loved the range of cream pies you can buy straight from the store. Chocolate cream pies, banana cream pies, etc - all kinds of sloppy wonderfulness just ready to go.
In the UK it seems like the choices are really limited. It goes from trifles to apple pies, missing out all the creamy options. Does anyone know of any awesome ready-made pies in the UK that are good to go?
Trouble is, we have little tradition in the UK of eating such pies other than hand made ones in restaurants.
The frozen dept is the place to look but they are pathetically small (around 6" diameter) and very expensive for what they are. For 'Messy Work" I wanted the 1st pie thrown to be lemon meringue (Ginger's favourite!) but just ended up making my own in a 10" pastry case because the ready made ones were frankly just crap!

Let them defrost thoroughly and they are great for sitting on and stuffing down pants. Add a carton of custard to the top for a great big messy pie sandwich.
Cheap as well, although still not a patch on what the US has.
I've been looking all over for those! They're a great WAM product as long as they're properly defrosted. Never heard of Heron Foods but will do some research! Thanks.
