A few years ago while trawling the web I stumbled across a small wam site and it was the only pay what you want wam site I had ever seen. I never bought anything which I regret because I like supporting pay what you want services. It crossed my mind recently and I tried to find it but I failed. I've assumed it has shut down and disappeared into the annals of the Internet but was it actually you in disguise? If I recall correctly the site had a similar feel to Curious Katie’s site and it seemed to be run by a woman just having a little fun on her own. The biggest similarity between this ghost site and yours is that it had a notice about fair prices with the line ‘Less than $1 and you'll be costing me money' but maybe that is just a generic message as part of some service for adding pay what you want to websites. It does interest me to know what happened to that site but whatever the story is I'm glad to see more pay what you want wam.
The "less than $1 and you'll be costing me money" line isn't generic – I made the site myself it's not an off the shelf site.
But i'm guessing the line is common because it's true. Even with PayPal the store owner pays a fee per transaction.
You still get the occasional person who tries it on, which makes me sad, but overall most people are honest and pay what they can or more if they like my stuff and would like to keep seeing more from me
