Does anyone remember a scene on this short lived tv show where an actress is seated at a table with a man and he says something like "and this pie is from laurel and hardy!", then he hits her with an awesome pie.
researched the show and I believe the actresses name is Cheryl rhoads that got the pie in the face.
Yes! I remember that! I was stunned when that beautiful lady got a really good pie in the face!
I kept hoping they would re-run that episode so I could record it, but no such luck. Now, THAT would be a Holy Grail for me if anyone found it!
They were at dinner at a restaurant. She was bragging; this purse is from Gucci, these shoes are from ...., etc. He gets fed up and says, "And this pie is from Laurel & Hardy" and nails her.
I think that special was at the famous Apollo Theater in NYC and it also had New Edition as guests that night as one of the non-Motown acts that performed.
I did some digging... Six episodes total. (IMDB is wrong.) Shown over the summer of 1985 and not rebroadcast. It's tough to know who owns the rights... I suspect clearing all that music would be a pain. I tried checking the usual "grey areas" but nothing so far.
Someone who's good in TV show circulation circles could probably ask around and try to find copies. That seems the best bet. There's a YouTube playlist labeled "Motown Revue Episodes 1 2 3 4 5 6" (or something similar) but it's just other shows and a lot of removed videos, making me think that complete episodes COULD have been on YT at one point but got pulled.
I found a Google hit for iOffer, but it's not there anymore. But again, that means copies are out there. And if someone's selling on iOffer, someone else is uploading them for free somewhere else... maybe.

Thanks, Rich! I was sure I remembered several episodes, but I couldn't remember how many. I'm almost positive that this pieing was in the 1st episode, as I watched it every week after that to see if there would be any more, and then suddenly, the show was gone!
I appreciate the legwork that you and Regis have done. I'm glad to find out that there might be a slight chance of it being *somewhere*! Until this thread, I didn't even remember what the name of the program was. So this is all very exciting!
OK, I finally tracked down a copy of the pilot episode of this show and it did not have the pie scene in it. There must be other episodes or the scene was cut out of it for some reason by the guy that was selling the bootleg copy. The actress did appear in some comedy sketches though, so I believe this scene is probably in another episode.

Thanks for the info *and* the detective work, DiamondJack!
Anyone that's looking for this pie scene, please keep in mind that it was more of a "blackout" than a "scene". From what I remember of it, it may have only been about 30 seconds (or even less).
There was no set-up, as I remember. It was the dialog mentioned above, and the pie. The end.
But thanks, everyone who's looking! I really appreciate it! I would LOVE to see this again!
okay, I have a new update. On an IMDB messageboard for the show Cheryl Rhoads herself replied to a question and said that there were several episodes of the tv show and it aired once a week for a couple of months so there ARE more episodes out there. Maybe if someone contacted Cheryl herself they could find out more.
Anyone know how to do this without sounding weird?

Unfortunately, I don't think there is a way to contact Cheryl without sounding creepy.....
But I seem to remember it being in one of the first few episodes, unless I just didn't know about the show at first. But I remember setting the VCR to record the program after that, and there were no more pies!
