I lost a round of Loser Has To and gave myself a sundae wedgie. Now I have ice burn where the ice cream was touching my skin. Is there any advice to avoid this in the future? I feel like letting the ice cream melt or wearing two pairs of underwear defeats the purpose but I really don't want this to happen to me ever again.
How long was the ice cream in there? Prolonged contact would do it.
And I get that if you want to pour ice cream you want to pour ice cream, but the easiest solution would be to not try and be a hero. Your skin is still going to register "Cold AF!" if you let the ice cream melt thoroughly. Even people who do cold plunges aren't sticking their bodies into solid blocks of ice. So really next time you just need to decide where you want to land on that fine line between "messy fun" and "potentially legit painful."
It was only in there a few minutes. I'm worried that if it's melted it'll still be cold enough to do damage and its only safe if it's room temperature which would defeat the point.
We've used ice cream before and not had problems. By the time we come to use it it's usually a bit melted rather than fresh from the freezer, but certainly still solid and nowhere near room temperature. We generally use it in small scoops and alternate it with something warm - custard for example. The contrast in temperatures feels good, and if anything probably makes the cold feel even more cold - after all, if things get so cold they go numb you're not going to feel anything!
