2] So, the TRICK to a good teaser/trailer is to show JUST ENOUGH to let people know what they're gonna see, but NOT SO MUCH that they will no longer want to see more (i.e., purchase the vid). Not that he needs more promotion, but Rich does this (usually) very well (e.g., cutting the shot a split second after the hit, or, doing rapid sequences of the same type of edit, etc.)
1) Thanks for the kind words! And Rich ALWAYS needs more promotion. The WAM biz is cutthroat these days!
2) I was about to post about this anyway, but if you're a fairly new producer, I think you should ALWAYS be making trailers. When I started out, I was making a trailer for every "volume" (cuz we were still in the DVD era then), and doing additional ones beyond that to celebrate ridiculous milestones like "Our First Ten Volumes" or whatever. But I tell ya, they worked. And once YouTube became a thing, they started circulating there, and basically functioned as free promotion for years. Even recently, I uploaded a couple (very old) trailers because people wanted to see them again. Not saying they were amazing or anything, but they stuck in people's memories, and that's what you need.
3) If you're doing a trailer, don't give away the store. But don't tease completely. (Unless you've been around forever, then you can probably do this.) Highlight the stuff that makes your video unique. Lately, I'm lazy with trailers, but I WILL post the first few minutes of a scene because that gives you a feel for the model, and her personality, and the setup, and those are the things that REALLY close the sale. (Assuming everyone knows what your mess is usually like.)
And yes, Robby and I disagree on this, but as I've argued with him before, you could sell a LOT of copies of a vid in 2000 with just a couple of clean pics and nothing else. I don't believe that's the case anymore, and hasn't been for many years. (Although one producer who's consistently top-ranked on the UMD is experimenting with just teasing glamour shots of his models and nothing else... Not even actual screengrabs... So maybe things are coming full circle??)
MessyMaestro said: Not sure I get the "You know the model gets it" argument when it comes to posting no spoilers. This fetish has so much personal preference around it - as evidenced by so many threads - that just saying that doesn't seem enough.
People want to see some evidence of reaction, splatter, timing, etc... All that adds up to create a situation where the same model, getting gunged in the same tank, in the same outfit, could easily be seen by someone as a must-buy in one instance and a dud in the other.
I can get people wanting the anticipation, sure, but file me under at least wanting a screenshot or two. Saying that, I HAVE bought a monarch gameshow before, so perhaps I'm just a massive hypocrite.
I think one point we need to make, is there are 2 levels of producers here. Amateur like myself, and professional. Amateur usually have day jobs, much less money to invest and know nothing about filming/cameras. We're mostly wammers who are recording ourselves. Other producer's are more professional, have much more money invested in what they're producing and have more resources to give better presentation.
I get it, this is a business, and we should be doing what the customer wants if we want them to buy from us. But in my experience, it's never gotten me more sales to take suggestions from customers. I'll put in the extra effort, and it still doesn't sell. And I'm working hard, spending hours, ALL DAY, filming something that I'm really proud of, and working another entire day cleaning up from, and then working another entire day editing, just to be told what I'm doing wrong to lose your business. It feels like there is no respect for the kind of effort that we're already putting into what we're doing.
There's so many producers and models who do it better, I'm not here to compete for their business because I can barely afford to make what I'm making. And I really want people to understand, as a model, I have the reality of the way I look as what I sell as a product for you. Part of my work is being legitimately judged as pretty enough or sexy enough for you. And the bigger reality is I'm not making very much sales, so for me it's not something I can change if you don't want to buy from me. I'm definitely not doing this because I'm profiting off of it, I'm doing it because I really love WAM. And other amateur producers like myself are here trying very hard with very little because the passion is so strong.

2/15/22, 5:34am: [admin] corrected the quoting to make clear who said what.
I feel my original reply was badly communicated. My opinion was more of a "I'd prefer at least screenshots of the mess so I can see if it would be the sort of thing that appeals to me", not "Please give everything to me in minute detail before I consider a purchase".
I meant no disrespect to producers of content like CreamMeAgain, and are fully aware the "court of public opinion" is a nightmare to navigate... The concept that you could spend thousands of pounds of a legendary scene, only for someone to swoop in saying you should've warn a watch or something, is nightmarish. Just thought at least a screenshot or two provided with a scene can (potentially) mitigate some of that.

The thread was originally specifically about traiklers with no mess in, but I think a few folk interpreted it as "previews with no mess in" which is rather a different thing.
The way I look at it is that no, I don't want to give away the money shots in a trailer, but do want to include enough screenshots that a potential buyer can see enough to know the scene is worth buying and they will be able to see their personal "hot button" items.
Take a swimsuit filling. If I'm looking to buy one from someone else, I don't expect any of the actual filling to be in the trailer, I'd expect that to show the girl(s) in their clean and dry swimsuits showing off their figures and sexy poses to camera. But I'd want a screen shot or two of the messing happening, so I can be sure the camera's view includes the girls' crotches as the mess is poured in. It's amazing how many people manage to get this wrong - the whole point of swimsuit filling is that the mess collects, seeps through, bulges, and starts to drip, between the model's legs, and we can imagine just how it feels having all that mess slipping down into sensitive placves. And yet I've seen scenes where the camera operator is so obsessed with keeping the model's head in shot - completely pointlessly - that the view cuts off at waist height, missing out the actual money-shots completely. So in that type of scene, including some screengrabs of the filling, to make clear it's been properly filmed, can be the difference between sale and no-sale to a buyer like me.
In any scene, there are up to three possible elements to promotion: 1. A trailer. 2. Screengrabs and/or still photos to show before, during, and after. 3. A decent text description to tell you what actually happens in the scene. This can even work in a "mystery ending" scene because it can describe what is done to the loser of a game, without revealing who they are.
Ironically, we have just released our first ever "mystery" scene (will be in what's new and promo post tomorrow), where one of two girls goes in a gunge tank, but we're only including clean promo shots and not saying which one got it. The text description though does fully describe what happens to the girl who gets tanked, but without naming her, and as both are very similarily dressed the actions described could be either of them, and of course a gunge-tank is a well known device so most people will be familiar with what it does and what to expect to see. It will be interesting to see the reaction when the post goes up tomorrow.

Thank you so much for your kind words, I do not believe you were trying to be rude, and I don't want you to feel bad. I feel like I may be a little sensitive to these things because I'm navigating this as a wammer who never thought of myself as anyone who could be a model. I still struggle with identifying as a model, because I'm trying to have an experience rather than be a professional who is doing a job, and that can make what I'm doing feel more intimate and more personal than a business minded person is to creating content. I am still learning how to do what I'm doing and I admit I'm insecure about it. I do want everyone to know that we are doing our best, but it is okay to have preferences and it is okay to ask for them, because we do want you to feel good about investing your hard earned money into what we're doing. I know that some of you struggle financially and you sacrifice your comfort to reward yourself with our content, so it's only fair to make sure you're satisfied. I consider everyone here more than a customer, I consider you my community and my tribe, so I want to be fair in giving as much as receiving. Love, hugs, and smiles to you
Consistency of the gunge, colour and whether or not the scene includes nudity etc are all factors for me in whether I buy a video / set or not. So for me, it's crucial to see some pics from the video (including some of the gunging) and if possible the footage helps me see what sort of consistency the gunge is. If it's watery, I'm not interested. It's literally the difference between a sale and no sale in my case.
