A 50/50 mix of applesauce and cake batter (specifically angel food because it was the only one that didn't require milk and eggs). It came out foamier than I wanted - too much applesauce. Next time I'll probably do straight cake batter, an maybe some oatmeal for texture.

This is what I was hoping to hear! Perhaps give her a proper initiation experience. Introduce her to pies, cake batter, custard/pudding, oatmeal and my personal preference - proper natrosol or methocell slime/gunge! See which she enjoys the most.

Mixing cake batter with plain water works perfectly fine - omitting milk and eggs, if anything, will just prevent you from having to worry about an unpleasant smell later.
