Annabelle and I played a new game! I put about 15 pies on a table and hidden in one of them was a hard boiled sweet! Annabelle had t locate the sweet in a minute with her hands behind her back or I would pie her with all of the pies and gunge her with a bucket of slime!! If she won, she would get to pie and slime me! It could not have gone any better... Annabelle put her face in every pie but the one the sweet was hidden in!!! So, with immense pleasure, I pied Annabelle and the gunged her! But this is Annabelle we are talking about... She scooped up some pie and smeared it in my hair and face!! We had a bit of a pie/slime fight so both ended up nice and messy!!
There is a blind. It's shut there. Unfortunately that window is in a position where it catches the sun at awkward times and if I put up a sheet, it's too dark in the room. That is the only source of natural light. And it's hard to tell what is going on when I am trying to work the camera and be in fron of it at the same time. I would love to have help with the camera and lighting etc. But I have to do everythin on my own to make these films. Hang sheets, sort out clothes, make gunge, custard etc, book models, read all requests and then clean up everything and wash all the clothes by hand (no washing machine), clean out bowls, buckets and mixing equipment. What might look fine when I start recording, can change when the sun goes behind a cloud, but I can't tell because I am then in fron of the camera... I can't do it all on mmy without fault.
It really is a labour of love for me to make these films. But if anyone wants to help film, prep stuff and not charge me for it, then great!!
It's probably not a big deal but you can pick up a pretty good soft light for around $150 or so... The new fluorescents don't heat up at all and are really lightweight. It's not 100% "pro lighting" but I dig it.
More importantly, you can basically shut the blinds completely and light the room evenly with your pro light, and you should get (basically) the exact same results each time. That's what I do anyway.
And seconds to having to do everything yourself! My shoot basically begins the night before, continues when I wake up, and ends late that night... after the model is left and I'm done cleaning up. This is why I don't shoot more than a couple scenes at a time anymore!!
