Here's a very lo-fi (i. e. filmed off of the screen of a television) version of what is definitely one of the greatest pie in the face moments in a commercial for me--the Dawn Wells "Long John Silver's" commercial, in which she, in character as Mary Ann from "Gilligan's Island", takes a GREAT pie in the face from an off-screen "Gilligan" (who has apparently become a rather malevolent character since being liberated from the Island--can you imagine the dopey, kindhearted stumblebum Gilligan just willfully and intentionally NAILING Mary Ann or Ginger with a cream pie for the hell of it on that show? Not that I'm complaining, of course, especially since "Gilligan's Island" isn't exactly a showcase for Method Acting...). The video quality of the actual pie hit at the end isn't nearly as lousy as the first few seconds of the clip.
This was one of the priceless jewels on the old Hurley Coward VHS cliptapes (and I must pause here for a moment to honor the great work that he did back in the 1990s)--and, in fact, I'd bet that this version is a videotaped clip-of-a-videotaped clip-of-a-videotaped clip from one of the great Mr. Coward's original tapes.
It's especially great to see Dawn Wells take a quality pie in the face since both she and Tina Louise avoided taking a pie for the entire run of a very slapstick-oriented show--unlike every male cast member, with the possible exception of Russell Johnson as The Professor (I'm very rusty on my "Gilligan's Island", and prefer to leave things that way). As such, this clip is one of those rare scenes that belatedly makes good on a missed messy opportunity.
Anyway, this scene has obviously been around the block a few times, but I thought I'd post it for those of you who may never have seen it, or would like to see it again in an easy-to-access format--I know it's been quite a few years since I'd seen it, and it was certainly a welcome surprise to find it again!
P.S. There are DOZENS of old Long John Silver's commercials on youtube, and I searched a bit without finding this one, but it may well be out there in better quality.
Baker speaks the truth on this one. Dawn Wells is gorgeous and took a great pie in this commercial. No doubt she needed the payday from this gig, but good for her for taking the pie.

In "Ginger or Mary Ann", I was always a "Mary Ann" person, because she was the girl-next-door (not next door to me, unfortunately, but you know what I mean! )!
Years ago, I saw a different commercial, probably from around the same time, for a Shoney's/Big Boy kind of place (I don't remember who, for sure). It was similar, in that she took a nice pie, but I don't remember any reference to Gilligan. They were probably used in different markets from this one.
I think it's great; on the show, they always made reference to Mary Ann's pies that she baked, and when there was a pie fight, the chivalrous guys always made sure that neither Ginger nor Mary Ann got pied (the famous, "Don't hit Ginger/Mary Ann with that pie", step in the way, and get it instead). I always hoped that "this" would be the time she got it! But, no. So after the show is over, she's playing off that and getting nailed with the pies! I LOVE it!
Good find, but you *might* have better luck with it searching for it as a "Captain D's" seafood commercial rather than "Long John Silver's" as they are two different seafood chains, and the commercial has a "Captain D's" logo in the corner at the start...
