I actually paid some attention to the English captions after about 6 or 7 views - apparently these quagmires are *all over* that part of the country, and the gov is interested in increasing the tourism to them. Too swampy to grow la cocaina, I guess.

Update: OK, so I went down the rabbit hole a bit, and found a town right up the coast called Arboletes. One of the main attractions (w/ pics) according to Trip Advisor? Fucking huge pit of mud, right next to the sea. Free parking, never busy, free admission, and unlimited wallowing time. Fuck me, Imma check out Columbia.
