Lately I've been fascinated with cakes (particularly super messy ones in the faces of my pretty models)... and I've discovered a nice side bonus: Cakes seem to lend themselves to "pratfalls" far better than most messy substances (pies, slimes, etc). Something about the size and the weight, maybe? But I really feel that "people falling into cakes" is an underutilized niche in our community... especially considering it's one of the primary messy pratfalls in mainstream clips.
To that end, I've got a few things in the pipeline, including our next scene... and here's a quick preview. It's definitely one of the trickier things to shoot, but if you guys dig it, let me know and I'll try to work these type of gags in more frequently!
An awesome addition to your arsenal. Not the easiest gag to shoot, but worth it. A very cool customer of mine suggested I have the prat fall be into cake over pie, and after the first test, I never looked back.

I don't know who this cool customer is but they are spot on! I would also add that pulling back the hair (ponytail/pigtails) or doing their hair up will make sure their face remains exposed and not covered up. Also it sounds like this cool customer is an incredibly handsome and intelligent human being, just sayin.
I did anything that appears to be a natural accident, as oposed to a model sitting on a stool and getting hit with a pie for no reason. I like the second but I prefer the first.
Some classic mainstream scenes are woman falling into or faces being shoved into "cream cakes," something I've never seen for dessert in real life!

I've got a feeling *I* know who this "cool customer" is!
The best traits of you as a producer are: - keeping things diverse - always finding the right innovations - letting your models pie you to make equality
These are my thoughts as a reaction to the cake-idea.
I like them as well!! In fact, I love them more and more...
I scripted one on my first custom I did with Messy Girl with Lane... I added a point, as she ups her face, she looked the camera, and slowly she spitted a quite amount of pie! For me ads a point of humiliation...
I'm glad you added nice undies! What is more humiliating than being undressed and falling on a cake?!?

More cake falls please!
I agree, but I disagree about pulling the hair back. One of my little peeves in WAM videos is the hair being all pulled back as if she is planning on getting pied. To me at looks like she might as well be wearing goggles and a trashbag in such an instance. The way the pie/cake gets on the hair is a pretty great thing, IMO.
I don't know if it's just the natural evolution of my interests or what, but cake and cake frosting have been really doing it for me lately. I think it's because cakes almost HAVE to be used situationally as part of a pratfall or humiliation event (you can't really just sit a model in front of a camera and smush twenty cakes in her face). When someone gets their face pushed into a pie it just kind of falls right off, but the cake sticks really well and is usually thick enough that the person can't open their eyes, which adds a bit to the humor/humiliation. Plus, the frosting is thick enough that you can't stand back and let em fly, you actually have to get in there and smear it around Chega style.
Anyway, good stuff. I'm glad you've been going this way, Rich. You always did the more contextual stuff really well.
Yeah, I always thought that comic was great too. (That artist was amazing. I think he passed away though.)
The bit at the end (where she falls back and the cake smashes into her face) was definitely inspired by that. Now, COULD I do the actual scene... like, in a living room, with the model falling over the couch? Possibly... but it would be tough technically, and physically (for her), and I'd have to clean up my furniture, so.....
....If someone makes it worth my while ($$$) it might happen, but otherwise I'm thinking the best you will see are similar scenes, but shot on set.
I think cost is probably a deciding factor given that large cakes tend to cost more than pies. That said I think it's worth it. I love cake destruction because the cake is like a whole additional thing... With pies it's just messing up the girl; with a cake it's messing up the girl and the food as cakes are supposed to look so pretty and pristine (just like the girl for that matter), so it's breaking yet another taboo... "Don't ruin the cake!!" The thing about cakes is the bigger the better. A perfect pratt fall into a cake is one where the model's whole body is in the cake and when she stands up she's absolutely obliterated. Cakes don't work well in place of pies as you said due to density and weight, but this same quality lends itself perfectly to being crushed and fallen into as it takesa little longer to squish a cake than a pie! Personally I would love to see cake pratt falls in your videos Rich! Just make those cakes BIG if possible (preferably multi-tier)! Wedding cake dive is the dream!
Unfortunately I'd probably have to get some folks to fund a giant cake! Even the small ones aren't cheap... A full-blown sheet cake can run $20 or more, and I don't want to know what a wedding cake would run.......

We didn't know Lane had the natural ability to play the sexy stooge, until she did your custom. So after that, it was game on for her.

Lane looks awesome in all these pics! I love all the pratfalls and face plants! She really has a flair for it!
One aspect of the cake prat fall that I don't ever see is the model holding the cake and falling into it. 99% of the hits to date are a cake placed on the floor and the models "falls" into it. Which I'm not complaining here, I just think producers are missing out on a better way to perform the stunt that yields better results.
Here's what I mean: Have the model hold the cake with both hands in front of her (well go over cake making techniques later). Then place a matt on the ground, something soft but not too thick, you want it to resemble a real floor as best as possible. Then have the model stumble but not actually fall. Then have her on both knees, cake still held in front of her, and have her fall forward and catch herself with her elbows on the soft surface. Instructing her to have a look of shock and to look directly into the center of the cake. The force of the impact on her elbows with the momentum of her face will result in a serious cake I.the face. Bonus points for having her yell on the way down so the audience can hear and know that her mouth had just been instantly filled with cake.
I dunno, maybe something like that would be cool? I dunno.
