A quick preview of the final gag from Scene 2, just added to the RAWHD Store... RAWHD.SlapstickStuff.com
This was the most cake-tastic scene I've shot to date (perhaps my profile pic gave it away?), all at Carrie's expense. (God bless Carrie! Poor Carrie...) The first two cakings were possibly my best ever--and yes, I might post pics if enough people want 'em--but the third-and-final one? Feels like the greatest local commercial that never happened. So good I turned the original AVI into a GIF *and* a video. https://youtu.be/YnLkyPB9V3w
In the vid, when you and "the other person" pushed that cake in her face, fast & hard, her head hit the backdrop, I heard a loud "klunk", and you said (in a very shocked manner) "OMG"!
I'm sorry, Carrie, but it just struck me so funny! (I'm still laughing! ) Rich sounds like he accidently killed Carrie, or something!
I sincerely hope that she was okay, but Rich's shocked exclamation just made it very funny to me!
I'm just surprised no one simply said, "Hey, I want to see those pics you mentioned." Seems like an easier way to get your faps for free, instead of insulting the guy providing you with the footage.
Anyway, I'm gonna change it up... If I get some sales on the scene, I'll post pics from ALL three cakings. If not I won't. Sound good? RAWHD.SlapstickStuff.com
Uh, Rich, you do realize that cutting away before the aftermath is literally the MOST local commercial-like thing about that clip? Because that's the like #1 thing we complain about with messy TV ads?

BTW, great cake in the face!
Norman
Yeah, I'm blaming Taylor for that. We didn't really rehearse anything, and then when she helped, she SHOVED the cake up into Carrie's face. Hence my "OMG." And Taylor's "Are you okay??" And Carrie's laughing "I'm fine...."
Ah, yes. The great moral dilemma of whether to click the "Love" heart for Rich's post and video, thereby encouraging him to do more of this sort of unclimaxed tease.

Just because I can't resist a plea from a Futureama character... Here's the aftermath. This is the "worst" of the three cakings in this scene... and still pretty great IMHO. Somehow the super hot clean girl laughing hysterically at poor Carrie makes it even better.
The first one is, yes. Full disclosure: I love the aesthetics of the "slam someone's face down into the cake" approach. However, for actual RESULTS, the "smush it up INTO someone's face" tactic works much better.
The nice thing about cakes is they're SO messy, you can do both. Right Carrie?
Also, this is just my opinion, but there is no model that looks cuter covered in cake frosting than this girl.
And while I don't post scripts publicly anymore, I feel like this exchange really helps "sell" that first caking. Man, I wish I was living in an era where sitcom gags like this still existed....
BAKER: Oh look, here comes someone now. [She brightens as RICH enters.] Hi there!! Welcome to Crusty's Cream Pies! RICH: Hey there. You sold my wife this cake yesterday, but I'm pretty sure it's spoiled. [He sets the cake down on the counter.] B: Oh right, that's because it was a one-day special. Only good for one day. R: Exactly. She bought it yesterday. On special. B: Right. But the CAKE was only good for one day. [brightly] That's why we had a special! R: Are you kidding me? Why would you make a cake that goes bad after one day? B: That's why it's so special!! R: [smacks his head] Whatever. Just give me my money back so I can get going. B: Sorry sir. No refunds on our specials. R: What?? Are you hearing me? We can't eat this! Just smell it!! B: [takes a quick smell] It actually smells fine to me. R: No, take a GOOD smell. B: [bending until her face is just over the cake] Nope, still smells fine to me. R: Oh yeah? How 'bout now? [He pushes her face into the cake. After a few seconds, BAKER lifts her head and sighs.] B: This one might be a little... Spoiled. R: So we agree. NOW can I get my refund? B: Sorry sir, like I said, no refunds on our specials R: You know what? Just KEEP your stupid cake. [He pushes her face into it again.] I'm done here. [He stomps out as BAKER slowly lifts her head and looks around blindly.]
KakeKid said: How come your cakes are so small Rich?
I've used bigger cakes and I haven't noticed any better results from them. In fact, I've gotten WORSE results using full sheet cakes instead of these smaller ones. (Although that might've been the specific sheet cake.)
Here's the thing: Most of the "classic" cake scenes are actually mainstream (as producers haven't really seemed to focus on cakes and/or do them well). And even a small production has a much bigger budget than I, and they want all the cakes to look "realistic," so they're full-size, elaborate, etc. So we've been conditioned that you need "BIG" cakes for a good caking. BUT... When a person falls into them, they really only hit a fraction of the area. And the frustration (for us) is that a super huge, elaborate cake is NO guarantee of quality coverage. In fact, sometimes it's the opposite. See Exhibit A, below, from a recent Latin soap opera.
ANYWAY. Those small cakes are actually reasonably priced (under $10 vs. $15-20 for most sheet cakes) and if you use them right, they can completely obliterate a hottie. Again, this first Carrie caking is a great example: One small cake gave us TWO face pushes and then a slam where the whole thing stuck to her face.
If someone wants to pay for the cost of larger cakes I'd be fine to use them for a scene. A sheet cake would actually be fun to just plaster a model's entire upper body (not just the face)....
I was referring to the shortness of them. I agree, a lot of times the sheet cake doesn't get the job done. For your face down pies you might want to try taller cakes so the model has more cushion to get her face slammed into I (and it looks amazing when most of their head is submerged in cake). You can achieve tho easily and inexpensively all whip using the exact same cakes you are now. All you have to do is take one cake and cut it away from its base, then place it on top of another one, then cover both in.a thick layer of can frosting. Bingo, tall cake with extra frosting that'll allow her to really slam her face down into it and providing excellent coverage. Cheers!
KK, I can get similar cakes that are "deeper" for about $2 more. But again, based on actually using them in skits, we tend to be left with the "cake" part (the not frosted base) more often than not.
When you shove someone's face into a cake, you really want to shove it into frosting to get that great coverage. The cake beneath might stick to the face as well, and it certainly provides a cushion, but you don't need a ton of it. And if a lot of that cake sticks as well (see Carrie's first caking), invariably gravity will cause it to fall off pretty quick.
But again, if someone's getting a custom and wants "deeper" cakes, I'm happy to buy them. And I know $2 doesn't seem like a lot but it adds up! I get pie crusts on special for the same reason!

Rich, I love your work. I wish I could afford more of it. Don't stop. Don't let the winers get you down.
Thanks man. It's not really whiners. Regis does that with everyone. It's his "charm."
And I'm impressed how this thread has taken off. The point was just to showcase the nice cakings in this skit before they got "buried" (ahem) in the more pie-centric pics from the scene. But I think people are really responding to great-coverage cakings of a gorgeous model, which is nice.... Cakes are really an undervalued element of WAM, and I'm happy to lead the charge in changing that.
To that end.... Brianna's first-ever caking (from SS161Scene2, because out-of-order) was my favorite for the longest time. (With Shelly's from SS157S2 a close second.) But I've got a new favorite now, as you might've noticed from my profile pic. If I could make EVERY caking come out like this one, I'd be the happiest man ever. Something to strive for, I guess. Props to Carrie for taking this one like a champ too.... She leaves all of it on for a good 60 seconds before wiping.
Very studied cakes indeed. I do like the way you have evolved these via Chega Mais in very positive ways. WAM scholars of the future (come on, there will be!) will have much to say about these.
