I think at all of them? That's all the gimmick he has, aside from being a "DJ" and playing generic house music noise. [Correct me if I'm wrong, please.]
Yes indeed, Steve Aoki, the nepo-baby offspring of Benihana founder (and convicted felon) Rocky Aoki, took some of the $345 million in illegal profits that his dad made from insider trading.... and became a "world class" DJ.
In reality, he's a dude who jumps around shirtless for a couple hours to shitty techno and a preprogrammed light show.... But for better or worse, he's been the most famous (and public) WAMmer of the last 15 years. Albeit accidentally. (I truly don't think he gets off on hitting hot drunk girls and boys with massive cakes, but it's the best gimmick he has and he's not gonna let it go.)
I'm guessing he plays a minimum of 100 shows a year? And I think he throws 10 cakes into the crowd each show, give or take? And I'll give the guy credit.... He's a so-so DJ, but his cake throwing skills are top-notch. Either way, that's close to 1000 people he cakes every year, probably more, and he's probably closing in on 20K lifetime. Those are insane numbers that dwarf even the longest running WAM producers!
(It does make those numbers easy if you're getting paid $30-80K every time you do a WAM session... Sorry, I mean "concert." And unlike the rest of us producers, Steve doesn't have to search for talent. They even pay him! What a life....)
This IG is a good source for recent cake clips. Tons of clips over the years are also up on YouTube, the old-school ones in Vegas without the extreme editing are probably the best.
