What's up everyone. I'm looking to finally use some real store bought pies for messy fun. I know this question has come up ad nauseam but can someone direct me in the right direction. The flavor is not important, but chocolate would be most preferred, haha. Just looking for an economical, store bought pie that would create good coverage and good stick. I am in the Los Angeles area of California, any input/knowledge would be much appreciated. And lastly, these pies would be splat and rubbed in at close range, not thrown so splat factor is not that important.
I've seen videos with Edwards pies and those results look pretty good. Any opinion on the Marie Calendar frozen pies? Chocolate Satin pie in particular.
I used a Marie Callender pie recently for smushing it into my face and found the coverage to be decent. I live for engulfing my entire face to the point where it's breath play.
The first attempt was average. I smushed it in pretty good but heaps of it fell off right away. I caught most of it in the tin and smushed it right back in and it worked better.
I don't know the prices in LA but I can pick one up for $8-10.
I'd personally rather make cheaper pies with crust or pay a bit more in the $15 range for a thick bakery pie that will stick well.
If you want to see some gifs of it in your thread, let me know
I've used the Marie calendars before and had great results. Also if you can find them the great value pies at Walmart are also good. If you can make it north Nations Giant Burgers and Pies have amazing chocolate cream pies
There's no Walmart near me so I haven't tried their pies, but Marie Callendar's chocolate satin goes HARD. Incredible pies, and my favorite WAM substance.
Edwards are pretty good too. In my profile pic, you can see their lemon creme, with Marie Callendar's chocolate on the other side!
It's not technically store bought pies, but smart and final have a wonderful non-dairy ready to whip cream, that for 18$ yields a lot. (just have to whip it). You should be able to find regular graham cracker crust there too.
Great bang for the buck and perfect cream for mess. It dissolves will water pretty nicely and does not leave any dairy smell.
