Someone asked Barbara on her Instagram if she got mad when she took pies. Then they asked her if she and Cameron Diaz Chick (Gabi Vanti) were protected.
Both of these questions have been the subject of much discussion here over the years so I'm sharing what I found out.
I asked a Portuguese speaking UMD'er for a translation of Barbara's answers.
The translator told me that Barbara said "she really got angry when she got (a) pie" and "she did not pretend, that her reaction was natural".
Regarding being protected - Barbara laughed and said "no". It's unclear whether she was referring to herself or Cameron Diaz Chick.
My take is that she didn't seem offended by the questions and responded with humor.
The questions are in the category "Perguntas" in the stories on her Instagram. There's a long list and it's about half-way through. You'll spot it because the word "torta" is on the screen. I'm not exactly sure how this feature works but I think the questions may only be posted for a limited time. So if you want to see the vid you probably shouldn't delay.
Barbara ended her response with a hesitation and said - "something, something, something, pouco". I know "pouco" means "little".
I'm not sure if this last part was translated - and I'd like to know what she was referring to when she said "pouco". If anyone can offer a further/more detailed translation it would be appreciated.
I saw the question. But I'm new on Instagram, and I didn't find where may I click to pick the answer. If you tell me, maybe I can find more information.
Edit: I'm trying to listen several times to check what she had actually said in the start. She speaks too fastly and hard to understand, but my impression was that she said something like this:
"People, it's serious, there are some people that doesn't know to do anything..."(?) Didn't make much sense to me. Probably, I didn't listened her well.
And then she clearly says:
"I'll throw a pie in your face, and then you tell me if you like that or not... Why would I pretend my reactions... no, I wasn't pretending my reactions at all... and Gabi wasn't protected too... just a little bit more."
Good to confirm that the girl who seemed to hate being pied every time it happened.... really DID hate being pied every time it happened.
More seriously, I always thought a Barb who didn't mind being pied--but played up her "reactions" when she did--would've been the greatest mainstream WAM target ever. What we got was a struggling model who really DID hate getting pied.... and tried to avoid it whenever possible (including arguing with judges, trying to win favors with producers, etc).... So she probably successfully dodged 40% of the pies she would've taken normally. (Compare her # of pieings per show to either twin, who clearly knew their place on the show and had no issues with pies.) Her one saving grace was she never actually DODGED once she was forced to get pied.... and usually her angry reaction made for MUCH better aftermath that most of the CM girls. (Plus I think she got better pieings that most of the girls because the guys were so sick of her shit and relished the occasional opportunity.) Maybe we would've lost some of that if she'd played ball better. Who knows.
Anyway, it's a moot subject now. CM ain't going back to pies ever again, and Barb ain't gonna ever have the career to be on another televised program (pies or not).
There's an old adage in show business: "A pie in the face comes with the job." Meaning: if you want to be a working actor (and have a chance at being famous), you have to take the job no matter what it entails...because, it just might (and likely will) entail something you would never normally do, or want to do.
Barbara seems so incredibly spoiled and immature; someone who has (most likely) gotten by on her looks for most of her life (it surely could not have been because of her sparkling personality and/or brains)...and ironically, to have reached the pinnacle of her career as one of many "pretty faces" on a modestly popular talk/game show in which her looks get routinely insulted (besmirched by pies).
> I guess that's why she's a model and not in communications. Nobody can understand what the (Barbara) heck she's saying, not even people who speak Portuguese. Maybe we need to bring in a cryptologist?
> It sounds like she has a lisp and a Valley Girl accent. A really bad combo.
> I'm still befuddled. I don't know what this means?
"and Gabi wasn't protected too... just a little bit more."
Is she admitting she was protected ... a little (pouco) ?
> The next question for Barbara - Are you willing to fly to the U.S. and take a dozen pies for $35? Please, somebody, ask her.
