This might be the nerdy corner, just warning you all
So in my 'normal' life I'm a videographer/editor, and obviously owning and operating the gear is all part of it. I don't have any involvement professionally in the wam community mind you.
My question for the producers out there is ... what are you using to shoot/edit your content?
I shoot most of my stuff now on a Huawei P30 Pro for side angles/vertical shots and a Lumix GH4 for a main cam (I also use it as a webcam for my livestreams!). Soundwise I have a cheap af shotgun mic that I don't mind being in the splash zone, and the perception 100 for anything where it's unlikely to get mess on it (again, also for streams). Depending on the content, if it's just something short on the Huawei for my Onlyfans and a single angle usually I'll just use InShot to trim it down and adjust the colours; otherwise I'm currently using Premiere Pro (and learning as I go)!
Video camera: Panasonic HDC-DD900 Full-DH, planning to move to 4k at some point. Still camera: Nikon D300s, usually with an f1.4 Sigma standard prime. Video editing: Sony Vegas, as recommended by Soundguy here. Main PC: i7-based, 32 gig ram, 15TB of HDD installed.
I probably need to move to a 4k video camera and external mic (with wind sheep) next.
I have practically no budget. What do I film on? The cheapest reasonable camera I can find.
What do I edit on? Free version of Davinci Resolve. It's about equivalent with Adobe, but doesn't break every project every six months, doesn't compel an update, and doesn't cost a fortune. I could get the paid version and own it for a lifetime for less than 1 year of Adobe. But the features unlocked are too advanced for me.
I've been thru a ton of various formats and gear over the years, but at the moment, I'm shooting on a pair of Canon XF100a HD cams plus a Vixia R800 as a backup and for anything dangerous where the cam might get wet or sticky. (it was cheap)
For tripods I use several Giotto stands (some aluminum, some carbon fiber) with Manfrotto 701rc2 fluid heads. (all of these are nearly old enough to vote, but when you buy quality, you only buy it once)
For sound I use the cam mics for reference/sync plus an Audio Technica AT2022 stereo condenser mic on a big-ass rolling boom stand as an overhead. The XF cams have XLRs for external mics, so it plugs into one of them
For lights I'm using 4 LED panels that can sync together so you can control them all from one device (brightness and color temp) . 3 panned across the front and one as a hair light on a boom or on one of several lighting brackets I have strategically bolted to the ceiling in various locations.
Video is shot on a Fujifilm x-t4 as of a couple of weeks ago. Stills shot on Fujifilm x-pro2. I am more comfortable shooting on a rangefinder style body when doing still photography. The IBIS on the x-t4 is superb! As for lenses, for video, the 18-55 fuji lens with OIS does pretty fabulously. For still photography I choose the proper tool for the job. My standard goto is the 35mm f/2 for general purpose use, but I find a lot of use for the 56mm f/1.2 when I really need to blow out the background. When it comes to editing, Im a macOS finalcut + compressor type although I used to use Sony Vegas when I was doing more 3D stuff. My first foray into NLE though was an Intel Smart Video Recorder Pro with Ulead Media studio Pro
