I would guess there are 300K people into wam and are sexually aroused by it, but only 30K people who are obsessed with it enough to have messy sessions or buy scenes of it in the past year. There are even fewer people browsing the forum and people section. It seems very unlikely to be recognized.
Since coming out of the pantry to several of my kink friends, more people know what it is that you think, but more people know what it is than have tried it and many more people have tried it compared to people who it's their fetish.
However, the number of people who've tried it and would do it again compared to the number of people who would is MASSIVELY in the yay column.
So We're not a popular fetish. But we're a FUN one!

Good point, there 2 kinds of fans, the "curious" and the "diehards". The curious can be 300K but those folks are not all fetishists as per the literal meaning of he word fetishist, i.e. a fetish is someone who worships an idol and who cannot achieve orgasm unless he is worshiping his/her particular fetish. A fetishist cannot have normal sex without his fetish being a part of it. A "curious" fan is someone who likes to watch certain videos because they find it entertaining, but they have a "take it or leave it" approach where they can get pleasure from traditional sex without a fetish being involved.
This explains why there are more user views on certain Youtube videos than there are actual fetish fans, because there are 5-10 times more "curious" viewers than there are "diehard" fetish viewers.
A stat that we have not mentioned so far is that there are 2 main kinds of of wam fans because wam is like football, there are "players" and then there are "spectators" i.e. wam voyeurs and wam players. and what percentage of wam fans like to engage in wam activities, versus what percentage of fans are voyeurs who just like to watch models or other people in wam scenes.
I don't have accurate data on this because for the last 32 years I have mostly chatted with voyeurs who are interested in our pre-made videos. Most of the wam players have no need for videos, because they will just be creative and have fun on their own or order custom videos etc. But I would hazard a guess that approx 98% of the "diehard" wam fans are voyeurs who enjoy watching videos made by others, and only 2% who are "players" who just have fun with their partners or they order custom videos, or attend personal wam events or they hire their own models and become a Wam Producer in their own right.
In a football match there will be 2000 spectators for every 1 player on the pitch, and wam stats may be similar.
