I asked Hannah Perez what her thoughts were on VR and she said that people say the technology has some improving to do. It still has the feel of looking through a screen door.
This topic has come up a few times before. Since you mentioned headsets, I assume you're talking about the 360 degree option rather than CGI (e.g. deep fakes). I'm dubious, because I'm not sure how much it would add. E.g. if you've got a video of someone sitting in a gunge tank, do you really want to turn your head and see what's going on behind the camera? Either there's nothing of interest, or you do have things happening "off screen" in which case you might get stressed out when you're looking in a particular direction because you're worried about missing something behind you.
VR headsets have improved dramatically. Just look at the Oculus Quest which allows the user to be untethered from a PC and the improvement in graphics from the days of the Gear VR which required an Android Phone to be attached are very noticable.
I was just spit balling the idea because I recently watched a 360 degree VR video of a TV production which put the user right in the middle of the stage.
How cool would it be to have a VR perspective from the middle of a mud pit, or sitting inside the gunge tank, or watching messy wrestling from inside the pit.
The future has great potential. We have evolved from hard tapes to the digital space, now perhaps evolution in production to VR might be worth a shot. If any producers are willing to dabble, perhaps let us know and maybe there could be some interest in financially supporting through a custom.
360 Cameras are available. We would have to give grace on quality because it wouldn't be 4K, but the pay off in perspective and new dimensions would be worth it.
I don't think you'd need 360 degree VR for it to still be an amazing experience. 180 degrees would be great. I would definitely pay money for high-quality VR wam.
The advantage of VR is that it feels like you are right there in the room even if you are always just looking forward. It's hard to explain without trying it, and you would need to find a good VR video to try as there is a wide range in VR quality out there. There is something amazing about having a person appear to walk right up to you in VR and look directly into your eyes. And the effect of slightly moving your head/view around also adds a ton of realism.
I got an Oculus Quest recently. The porn VR vids were pretty good, literally in your face.. the chick walks up to you and get really close. Unfortunately, porn does nothing for me... but I'm saying it was an interesting visual that you can't get from watching in a non-VR setting.
The biggest issue I see is what should we shoot for? There's issues because of the nature of our fetish: - Shoot from the POV of the WAMme. Have somebody gunge you and pie you? How is that going to work practically, and how do you not destroy the camera. Also having half the vid "covered" in pies ain't a good idea from a watching perspective. - Shoot from the POV of the WAMmer. So here I am the person pieing the model. You'll be in the "body" of the producer pieing the model during this VR vid. - Shoot from the POV of the observer. So here you have 2 models dishing each other. I like the idea of this one, but technologically I don't know if it can be done. The ideal situation is that you are this observer... are watching the video in 360, can walk around, so you can see different angles, perspective, etc. Feet people can stare at her feet the entire time, face people like me can go for the face... it's literally a "configurable" vid because you can look at what you are most interested in.
