In the early days, I just watched the place grow, with only the odd post. I'm rather a shy, nervous type of person, but over time I have begun to feel more and more confident. I post a lot more now and have even ventured in putting up a few pictures of my wamming (see my profile).
I seen the UMD community grown, lots of amazing pictures and scenes, the odd dispute, some slagging off (which was soon nipped in the bud), the sad passing of wam icons and everything you would expect from a community.
Its a real joy to be here and look forward to many more years.
Who knows I might even do a special wamming to celebrate.
Special shout out to Messmaster, which without his hardworking and vision, we wouldn't be, well anywhere.
Thanks guy and gals.
Ps congrats to Wamchantelle who is also celebrating 25 years as is the UMD.
Another two-fiver here, I can still remember when UMD was a single page of text links, and then in the early days was mainly a portal where people could submit reports and links to WAM scenes they'd found in the mainstream for others to check out.
1998 here were fewer than ten active producers, including MessyFun, WSM, Splosh, MPV, and Erik Elsas, a few of whom are still with us today. Was it really quarter of a century ago?
There were no micropayment systems, no download stores, setting up any kind of website was pretty much a black art never mind one with payment facilities, international money transfers involved cheques sent by air-mail which took six weeks to clear, and WAM videos were E120 VHS tapes, six scenes per tape, and cost $50 each. Or you could buy photosets, 6 x 9 prints on glossy paper, 25 photos for 25 bucks. Nowadays you sometimes get more images than that in free previews.
WAM highlight of the week in the UK were the gunge tank on Noel's House Party and the "Water Zone" in the Crystal Maze, where you prayed that a woman would be picked for at least one of the "guarenteed to get a soaking" challenges.
We really have come a hell of a long way since then.
Happy 25th birthday UMD, and congratulations to MessMaster for creating and running this awesome community!
Another lifer here. I found MessyFun from a tiny ad in the back of a porno magazine in 1996 and sent off a money order for $80 (most of my monthly food budget back then) to some guy in Texas and receiving the most incredible videotape in return - "Splatgirl vs Mudwoman". When I finally got a computer capable of connecting to the internet the next year. The Messyfun.com site was the very first site i visited..
Yes it is amazing to see something that started, if I recall correctly, as an amalgamation of the "links" pages from the MessyFun site and a few others (hence the name), grow into a social media network before we knew what that even was. I lurked for years and years before posting anything, and still only post sparingly, but this has been my home for my entire adult life.
Just think of the sheer quantity of lingerie, business suits, dresses, heels, t-shirts, jeans, and underwear that have been deliberately soaked, messed up, and trashed around here in 25 years!
Oh yeah, I also was a regular to the MessyFun website. Back then the download were very very short samples of about a minute, but would take over an hour to download (Internet speeds were pretty much rubber bands and hamsters in a wheel to power it). The anticipation waiting for it to download was like a child at Christmas.
I also was part of the Splosh! Forum boards.
We've come a long way now, thank goodness. Yeah, it hard to imagine the amount of food, gunge and clothes that have been trashed over the 25 years, but it's brought pleasure to a lot of people
25 years here too, I lurked for a little until a question came up that no one else could answer and I had to sign up to answer it. Never left.
I am thankful for MM for setting this up, and also thankful for living with my University's IT manager who auto-deleted my browser history so I didn't get in trouble watching porn while writing my dissertation.
Hope this doesn't get me in trouble, but my profile says I've been here 25 years also and that means I found this site when I was not quite legal yet. I've definitely grown up in my fetish here and seen numerous changes. I still remember in my early lurking years, there was an amazing site with incredible messes but it was all in Spanish. Imagine my horny teenage self trying to learn enough Spanish to navigate around the site and discover new photo sets. Lol. Super grateful for this site and all the hard work put in by admins and producers through the years. Made me realize I wasn't alone in the world and that my kink wasn't as uncommon as I thought.
I'm about to join the 25 year club. I first discovered UMD in 1999, lurked a while before officially joining! A huge THANKS to MM for starting this site to all of us in our fetish!
I ado wanted to public ally join the 25 year crew.
I remember starting with Ariel Andrews on dial up LOL But hey anyone remember Pie-imagination ? Where they would create GIFS of pies celebs? Hell with all this AI talk, maybe it's time for being that idea back.
Man I think of how much Wam has dominated my life and my free time. I fully suspect to be here for another 25 years. Should the UMD last that long.

Wow I wonder what story's you have on the history of how umd evolved

Thank you so much for that little mention for me that meant so much. I can't say that I'm going to be here for another 25 years, but who knows when I first arrived here I didn't think I would've been here for as long as I have in the first place.
Yes I agree huge thank you for Messmaster for having the balls to set this site up in the first place and make it what is today

Is there an official "succession" plan ?
Oh my God, you've just sparked a memory dial-up Internet how the hell did we even manage with it back then the fourth of downloading 10meg photo would've been the stuff of nightmares at the time and if you wanted a video if you could get one you would probably leave your computer running all night. I need to find it didn't work.

Ah yes, I remember BT giving me 50% off my "Favourite person" on my phone bill, and setting it to my internet dial-up number. And yes, the awful quality videos did take hours to download! I still have 1 or two, but the quality is generally too bad and most of the videos don't work because Microsoft doesn't run the software any more! I remember buying physical CD-Roms of amateur pies from the US, as one of my first online purchases. Still have them somewhere! Urgh, I feel old.

I remember that! And hearing that in the US, all local phone calls were free, and thinking that sounded completely insane and nothing like that could possibly ever happen here. And now we have free VoIP calls to anywhere on the planet with sound quality like you're standing next to the other person.

VLC should play just about any format, including the really obsolete ones, though on a modern screen they end up the size of a postage stamp, and if you enlarfge them they're blurry as a blurry thing. Someting that AI upscalers will presumably eventually be able to fix.
