Guys like that don't go to jail. Maybe I'm just old and cynical but I'm guessing he'll get some buddy of his to give him a high paying job and go on being a hypocritical creep. He's the founder of a private group called "Foundation for Moral Law" (which his wife is the president of) so even if he can't get elected into office he could just go back to working for that foundation fighting against gay rights and all the other things "god" hates.
But no one is going to remember the term ephebophile...it just doesn't roll off the tongue like 'pedo'.
Sadly, I think Leila is right. This man will fade out of public view with maybe so much as a slap on the wrist. Fuck, if Trump is still president for almost a year and still hasn't had one day in court for all the sex allegations against him, I don't have much faith this man will see justice either. Not in this life anyways, which makes me really hope God IS real. Don't really mind going to hell if I get to see these assholes get dragged along with me.
I think the folks tend to treat people differently, based on whether they are a hated public figure or whether they are a beloved public figure....i.e. it is well documented that Elvis Presley did the exact same thing that Roy Moore is accused of doing...because Elvis started pursuing and dating Priscilla when she was only 14 years old as well. Jerry Lee Lewis took things a stage further by marrying his 13 year old cousin.
We live in a strange world where history is rewriten or glossed over....e.g. Disney made a movie glorifying the romance between Pocahontas and Capt John Smith....while ignoring the history books....i.e. that Pocahontas was between the ages of 10 to 12 years old during the time she met John Smith.
How you are treated in the court of public opinion differs depending on whether you are a beloved icon, or whether you are a hated figure. The media would have more credibility if they treated all people equally.....e.g. if the press are going to use the word pedophile every time they mention Roy Moore.....then they should mention the world rapist every time they mention Bill Clinton.

I agree with that but also think time plays a big issue as well. My older relatives (60's plus) haven't seemed overly surprised about all of the sexual abuses going on. In regards to the perverts in Hollywood my mom's response was "Yeah that's not ok but everyone has know it's been going on for years." As a society were are becoming more open about reporting and talking about abuse/sexual misconduct and less accepting of it.
Also marrying your cousin is still legal, at least in MA. It's weird but from a biological perspective not detrimental to potential offspring. Still super creepy not something I would encourage.
It is true that the casting couch and other sexual abuses are nothing new to Hollywood, since this has been going on for the last 100 years in the movie indrustry...e.g. one of the most prolific casting couch pedophiles in the silent era was Charlie Chaplin. What is different now in today's climate is that the studio heads are no longer protecting abusers as they used to do in the earlier 1900's when all the media was controlled by the studio heads and newspaper magnate William Randolph Hearst, who had the leading gossip columnist of the time, Louella Parsons (the Barbara Walters of the 1920's) on his payroll and nothing got published that was detrimental to protecting an A list movie star....hence why Chaplin's crimes were all covered up. Hearst also had the Los Angeles Police Department on his payroll as well, which enabled him to commit the murder of Thomas Ince and get the police to cover it up....and Chaplin was on board his Yacht and witnessed the murder by Hearst....so Hearst was unlikely to allow any bad publicity to appear about Chaplin's crimes in his newspapers when they were each covering up for each other.
Before the internet and social media existed it was very easy for powerful people to control the mainstream media and to stifle any mention about abuses or crimes or controversies committed by famous celebrities or politicians. But today because of social media and the internet, it is rather refreshing to see that the powerful people and mainstream media can no longer control the conversation and the #metoo people have a voice today.

Sadly, this paragraph may require a footnote now based on the FCC vote earlier today
I heard about the rollback of Net Neutrality rules today.
I don't see this as an impediment to freedom of speech....and rather more to do with large providers trying to control the internet and squeeze out the small internet providers....so it can impact competition, but as far as freedom of speech goes the genie has been let out of the bottle with the birth of social media.
Whenever people try to block or ban something on the internet, it merely encourage more people to use proxies and vpn services.
Ladies beware lest the standard you judge men like Roy Moore by today becomes the standard you yourself will be judged by tomorrow. The state I live in raised the age of consent from 14 to 17 back in the 90's ever since a steady stream of women have been arrested for raping underage boys.
