Hi will be traveling to the North Norfolk coast ( UK )later this year my new partner is keen to play in mud and says she wishes we could find a secluded location to get dirty together can anyone recommend any such place Thanks
I spent a few weeks in the area about 15 years ago as a student summer job, taking soil and sediment samples for a geological survey. My memory is kind of hazy, so I've no specific spots to recommend, but from what I remember it's almost hard not to find mud around there! I have some happy memories of poking about in deep ditches and somehow always getting a lot muddier than the job I was doing really needed...
I remember finding some very thick anaerobic mud at Blakeney Point & Cley Marshes whilst doing my A Level Geography Coursework... the problem is it's all a) either National Trust land or private farm land & b) an SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest) full of rare plants, seals & rare birds bringing in ornithologists from miles around... so privacy would be non existent! Also c) as stated above it was mostly anaerobic & therefore VERY smelly!
However the salt marshes cover quite a few square miles so you might be able to find a more private bit...
WARNING - If you are thinking of trying this area BE VERY CAREFUL OF THE TIDE!!! It comes in FAST and can cut you off very easily... If you are in peak physical form you MIGHT out-run it (2 miles in 20 mins over rough boggy terrain)... otherwise you are likely to have severe difficulties!!! [NB the above is warning is from personal experience of a VERY narrow escape!]
