Hey I was wondering whether both adults on GYOB would've been gunged, but only one whilst the cameras were rolling. Would seem a shame for the losing side for them to get all that way and not see their adult dunked. Wonder what you all think
One of the child contestants posted a clip of GYOB saying that a mistake by DBP meant that he did not get his older male relative dunked. So I presume that there were no "dunk the winner" incidents. Other than an episode where the winning male twin was also thrown in because they couldn't be sure which one was the right one.
When you think of the female celebrity twins out there who could have done that...the ones from Neighbours for instance...
I have heard very vague and unsubstantiated rumours that in the later, 2 slide series that the winning adult did indeed get to go into the gunk dunk once the cameras had stopped rolling.
I very much doubt that this was the case in the earlier dungeon, fairground and long slide versions. I wouldn't be surprised if the winning adult and losing child weren't already on their way home by the time the other pair were filming the gunge sequence.
Gungey Shorts said: I'd like to think that both parties ended up being gunged in the two slide series, however I suppose it depended on the adult. While most were fairly cool with being gunged I imagine someone like Frances wouldn't have been so eager to be dunked!
One thing that I always wondered about GYOB was what happened behind the scenes, for example did they have a crew member try out the gunge seats when they were built? And how did they get the gunged adult out of the tank? Then there's all the other messy stuff that could have happened behind the scenes like crew members being pushed in ect!
Got to be a few stories & antics behind the scenes! Be very surprised if there's nothing considering how long the show lasted. As for getting the gunked adult out the tank.....in Ghost Train series adult may have been able climb out as didn't as difficult compared to latter series, though would ladder/steps of some kind were used. When Zoe Ball was gunged in a promo for start series 4 she got to the seat by walking a plank so could also have put that across then adult climbed aboard & slid along to side
I remember seeing some cutaways wit some CBBC shows that the gunged person was put in a bath and wheeled off backstage (presumably for a shower) so that they didn't slip over. I remember seeing this with Myleene's gunging.
I'd love to think that they had mock gunk dunk sessions amongst the crew to check it was all working. The easy way would be to use dummies, but surely you can't expect to work on a gunge show and not get a feel for it yourself.
I spoke to a GYOB contestant from the long slide days. His younger sibling "won" and he didn't get gunged. He said they never offered to let him do the gunk dunk, not even just for fun.
