Just a quick post as much to remind me to write something about the last week, if you're on the groupme you'll have seen it, but for those that didn't, I had serious anxiety issues leading up to a session at the weekend - for those that don't know, I'm rather seasoned in sessioning, there was nothing new about it, yet I was fretting about it for days. I knew there was no reason behind it, nor any logical explanation, but there it was. It struck me that if I felt like this, how is a first-timer going to feel?
So, if you are nearing a session and you start to feel anxious, don't fret. First of all, speak to the people you're sessioning with. I chatted with Lisa and it sounded like Cassie was just as bad as I was (do i really have that sort of effect on people? I know, it's a good job I don't have an ego really!) Little things like that help - whoever you're sessioning with and whatever your session, speak to them - they want you to enjoy it and if something as simple as a chat eases the stress, I'm sure everyone will do that. Of course, yo can also post here or on the groupme.
I had a few intended plans for the day before, which included travelling, but once I got into the B&B (way before the check in time - top tip, avoid the big chains, you won't get in the room there 3 hours early!)
Session day, when you'd expect the nerves to be at their peak, I had none. The session was great fun!
As another anxiety sufferer, totally get this. I get anxious doing a session on my own ! Just before I am about to press that record button I keep putting it off, go to the loo, have a drink, check my face, hair ! I hope to do a session this year as a model and will need all the advice to cope with this.
I've suffered from anxiety and depression for years. Usually in high stress situations, but I've found myself having panic attacks in busy situations. Most recent one was when celebrating my partners birthday at the zoo, I struggled with the heat of the various enclosures and lose my temper at the slightest thing. It was really busy and I felt on edge. I have a coping technique for stress. It's taking myself out of the situation for a time out. Often, it's a lie down or a tactical poo! But, getting yourself away from the situation is advisable and then going again ..

The team found a way around this. Film everything. We ask the camera guy to roll all the time; then he wanders around to talking to the girls while they change. We have one famous scene with Luke sitting on the bed with a brew chatting to the girls while they strip. The funny part is this; the anxiety vanishes, because the atmosphere is laid back fun, (with like-minded people) everyone relaxes and starts to chat about mundane life occurrences on camera. Some of the footage is very funny.

Andy and the team.
We started to do that. Cause Rich says you can edit it out lol. I always end up laughing before I start the take. Then forget to be quiet lol. Oh well we are amateurs at this totally ! Good job everything is digital now and you can just delete stuff and easy edit videos.
Yes this is for real good advice. It's possible that some of the anxiety relates to isses with the basal-vagal nerve getting compressed in part by ... well... poo.
