So I found myself wondering, what is the demographic of WAM enthusiasts, worldwide? Obviously this is an English-speaking site, and so not surprisingly most of the users here seem to be from the US or the UK. I know we have a couple of users working out of France and Japan, among other places, but generally there isn’t much of an international spread.

This topic was brought up about two years ago (http://umd.net/forums/worldwide_wam_stats), but I don’t think it’s been discussed since (correct me if I’m wrong). I thought I’d see if anyone had any new information, as I’m pretty curious. I’d hope that places in Europe would have their own equivalents of the UMD, but what about further afield, such as the Middle East and South America? The culture in these places can be quite different to Europe/the US, and I don’t know how much of an effect that would have on the existence/secrecy of WAM enthusiasts.

Anyone here know what the WAM scene is like from a bit further afield?

I always wondered if there is a site out there like the UMD with WAM enthusiasts but in a different language. Obviously not as huge as this site but something along the lines of 100 members and only in a language like Japanese or Russian, etc.

Maybe Alumi knows if such a site like this exists in Japan. I would imagine of all places, there has to be something like this in Japan.

Have heard of Malta (it's an island, I believe), but "Brunei Darussalam"? I know the city Dar es Salaam, but that's in Tanzania. Apparently Brunei is on Borneo.

Anybody with a web server and a decent management console can, it's not that hard at all.

Interesting that Germany should come higher up the list than Canada! Then again, they do have over twice the population (Source: Google), and we have to consider the time differences too......if this data is just for a 12 hour period, then that'll fall into the night-time of some of these countires.

Nevertheless - only 96 hits from India? That's from a population of 1,189,000,000 with 61 million internet users (Source: CIA World Factbook). Either they have their own sites, or they're seriously missing out!

I have seen a site selling WAM related material with the descriptions in German, but the titles were generally English. I'm guessing that means there is at least some demand for it, but there still aren't many producers making material in that language/area.
