Hey fellow producers. The virtual stores are up. If you haven't read about it, I'll recap.
Every producer who has downloads for sale on UMD now also has what I'm calling a "virtual store." What is a virtual store? If you take UMD's main download store, and filter it so that only your stuff is there, plus switch up the colors the way you like them, then it's a virtual store.
The URL to each virtual store looks something like
http://yourstore.umd.net. It only shows your content, your models, and only your trailers will play on the homepage video player. You also have a Contact page where visitors can email you directly.
If you know CSS, you can mess with the colors on your virtual store, plus you have a few options for how content shows up. If you don't know CSS, you can choose from a number of pre-made templates that are already there. You can start from one of those templates and tweak it. To edit your store, look for a new set of buttons on your Download Stores manager here:
http://umd.net/manage_stores_setup . There you will see links to see your virtual stores, as well as links to customize them. You can create templates and store them, and then apply them to your store once you are satisfied with the look.
There are not a lot of pre-made templates there yet, but I'm working to create more. I am offering a service where I will create a custom template for your store; Please inbox me and let me know what colors you want, etc. No charge.
It is not required for you to do anything at all, if you don't want to customize your store. It will just revert to a default template, and it will still sell your existing and future content just the same. You are never required to do any maintenance, updates, or customer service.
Please note that this system is very much in beta. Please send in suggestions for things you'd like to be able to customize, and I'll take your suggestions very seriously.
Peace,
Messmaster
Stay messy, my friends.
