I never would've thought that the touchiest people when it comes to personalities and negativity would congregate on a fetish message board. I've seen group therapy sessions that were less protective of others' delicate delicate feelings.
BION, I recently joined a forum (and left it just as fast) that is even touchier and more sensitive than the UMD:
mathoverflow.net. I've tried (and failed) to answer purely straight mathematical questions there, only to have my questions IMMEDIATELY closed out by the mods.
Their mod system is interesting, although ridiculously complex. Users automatically gain varying levels of ability to vote up or down other users' posts or to vote to close them out altogether through a system of "reputation points".
No, my questions were NOT about how many pies could one throw into Messymaddy's crotch in 1 minute nor about politics. Ok, one of them WAS about politics, but it was STRICTLY about HOW TO MODEL a certain political problem via game theory. In NO way did I mention MY or any other real person's actual political views. It was purely a hypothetical situation.
Immediately, I got responses such as: "I don't think your question is worthy of a publication-level question" (I can prove very easily that it is.) "I don't get this."
which all translates into "This is not my field. I am not a specialist in this area, therefore this area doesn't matter to anyone."
Geesh.
P.S. I do NOT go by the name Dr Zoidberg over there, so don't try looking for me there, and anyone over there won't be able to find me over here!
