A lot of people need to learn the definition of Oligarchy, because Democracy just does not describe it anymore...
"I recommend a law prohibiting all corporations from contributing to the campaign expenses of any party. Let individuals contribute as they desire; but let us prohibit in effective fashion all corporations from making contributions for any political purpose, directly or indirectly"
Last I heard, the protesters were moved to a out of the way park because it had pretty much turned into a place where a large percent of the local hippies/homeless went to smoke pot and mean mug anyone who looked showered. And, as I don't usually watch the news/read the local paper, I really have no idea what is going on with the bigger cities. Well, except that some protesters up in Portland had put a water fountain on a war memorial, and instead of complaining to the organizers/whoever was responsible, they took a picture and uploaded it to facebook....and complained about it being disrespectful on their status.

YES, YES, A THOUSAND TIMES YES!!!
I propose a separation of corporation from state similar to that enforced on religion and state.
Case in point:
You've done nothing illegal. Somebody, though, has discovered you hanging out here on a fetish forum.
Who do you LEAST want this to be? The government, or the place you work for?
No violence here as of yet. At least with the protestors. I've been meaning to take a drive down and see how things are going and show some support. It's got to be difficult out there, especially since it's getting pretty cold here.
Checked out OWS in Zucotti Park a few weeks ago. Got some interesting, educated conversation, heard some legitimate beefs, and tipped in a few donated bucks for some smashing kitchen grub from an "A" hygiene-rated cook area. Checked out my local site a week or 3 later to compare, and I got horrid-smelling career anarchists, conspiracy loons, mental patients with knives, human waste everywhere, and a bongo circle blazed up so high that they didn't know *where* they were, let alone why. The biggest disaster in all of this? An insider-elite 1% percent of the camp was controlling a completely unregulated donor money flow and calling the shots for the other 99%...so they were right back to square one on a park-size level.
This may have started out well-intentioned, but someone should have thought out a 'phase 2' before everything began to pancake.
There's been a few try to protest here, but they always wind up tryign to get violent, or sit in the middle of traffic and keep getting arrested. I love it. Big props to our local law enforcement for keeping these filthy pigs off our streets.
