Hey folks. I received notice a few minutes ago that AlertPay cannot accept payments via credit card right now for adult sites such as UMD. This is due to an issue with their credit card partners, and not with UMD itself. Purchases already made are valid (customers can still access their content), and money already earned by producers will still be paid on time. There is still the ability to pay directly via bank account, but right now, no credit cards will be accepted. I'm sorry, everybody, for the inconvenience, and I will be updating this thread as soon as I hear more from AlertPay.

Jesus. I swear it would be easier to be a drug dealer rather run a legitimate adult business.

Any news on a back up option? Even if it's a costly one it might be worth having in place to bridge gaps like this....

Absolutely one is on the way. The problem is that I'll have to charge producers a lot more just to break even. Probably up to 30% instead of the current 20%. I really did not want to do that, so that's why such a system is not already in place. But I am doing it now.

having sold both drugs and porn (small scale on both accounts) it is much easier collecting money via drugs.

Cool. If Alertpay resolves itself great, and 30% of sales in an emergency is better than 0% of zero sales.

30% if Alertpay doesn't return... well, if it's solid and more people can use itself it may pay for itself I guess.

At least with porn it's not such a problem getting high on your own supply...

Payouts will happen normally. They are unaffected. To purchase downloads right now though, customers will have to fund the transaction directly via their bank accounts.



Forget selling them. I'm about to DO some at this point.

Because they let you use them for a while, then kill your account and keep your money without you being able to dispute it. It's happened to me and a bunch of others before. They don't allow adult content.

Will this new form of buying content allow more than just Visa as Alertpay had it?

The problem with paypal is they do not like adult content sites the minute they find out your running an adult site your account is closed on you with out notice or recourse it has happened to several producers on here in the past maybe paypal wont be wise in the begining but trust me they aint stupid either they somehow find out then its hammer down on said account the problem with banks is you the account holder are charged a fee everytime you transfer or use a debt card so on top of exchange rates you have to add fees it adds up fast

Yes. Visa and Mastercard, as well as Discover, Diners Club, JCB, and all that yummy goodness. I am in talks with them now.

I saw a post about alertpay on another message board and wondered if it would hit us here... and it has.

Every processor out there has complaints against it, and really, it's tough being an adult payment processor in this political climate. I haven't found one or even heard of one that will do what AlertPay does at the percentages that they charge. Unfortunately their own banks, and Visa / MC and the rest of them are very uncooperative, so all adult payment processors have a hard time and that translates on to us very quickly. That said, I'm making the move to Epoch, who already does UMD Premium billing. They charge a bit more but they are about as stable as can be and in good agreements with their banks.

Once again, sorry for the problem. And a reminder that the account itself is fine, and they are not withholding any money already earned. Payouts will be made on time, and new sales right now are actually possible via ACH.

messmaster isnt billing for membership of a website different than buying adult content one bills monthly the other is a one time deal the companies that do monthly billing have many players in the game but i would becareful that the company who does your membership billing dont suddenly one day tell you were sorry we can no longer do this due to what ever excuses they can come up with

Yes, we've had the same problem with Alertpay and whilst our download stores are unaffected, DVD and mag sales are (like UMD you can pay through your account, or by cash or cheque). We too are looking for an alternative - one that accepts 'tangible goods' (that is things you post out rather than subs and DLs) which for some reason I don't understand when DVDs are regulated by the BBFC over here makes it harder still to find one who's reliable. I think Alertpay was our 5th!

It is a total pain in the butt and we sympathise.
