It might be unfair to claim that the models on that list are the youngest and fittest to get mentions here. However, it is truly stupid to make a comment like the previous post. We do not all share precisely the same preferences. If we all spoke up negatively about models we did not find appealing, virtually no one would be able to contribute here without enduring harsh words. Then we must also consider that there are many profoundly beautiful women who are extremely sensitive to comments about age or weight in spite of their own youthful fitness. This kind of mean-spirited behavior will also tend to keep those girls away from the community as well.
Next time anyone is inclined to make such a comment, please answer a couple of questions in your own mind first . . .
1) How important is it that others know about my distaste for this particular contribution?
2) How plausible is it that people on the fence about making other contributions will be discouraged by my remarks?
Usually the answer to #1 is "way less important than a typical Facebook status update" and the answer to #2 is "entirely plausible." There is plenty of room here for constructive criticism; but straight up negativity, particularly when directed at contributions from users, does not foster the kind of supportive environment that promotes continued growth of the community.
