As some of you might have spotted, I recently added two clips to my download store. In the (sad) absence of new material these were basically compilations of some older material to give good value for money.
Whats interesting is whilst the sales of these new clips are doing OK, it seems to have kickstarted some interest in the other material on the site, such that I sold 26 clips last week - a number that I haven't achieved for quite a while.
So I suppose the moral of the story is that if you have a number of older clips it may be worth making a compilation as it can have a wider marketing impact than you might think...
I don't have the stats obviously but I imagine new users are finding the umd and the clip store everyday...

There are so many interconnecting factors that affect sales that I can't quite get my head around them and how they all affect each other. But the one that you mention seems solid. Getting new material up and generating new interest in your store always seems to help sales of old material. The communal nature of the UMD stores also helps with cross-sales: Some producers get a resurgence of sales of old material out of nowhere just because UMD started recommending it to customers buying something else that just came out. Either way it always helps to keep your name out front. It's best to use UMD's delayed launch option, and upload a bunch of downloads at the same time, but date them one week apart. Some producers have stuff lined up for auto-launch clear through February!
