So I tried to start a food fight and it went very bad... by Angelface

So okay I had a few friends over today for dinner and afterwards I was making a cake. This guy friend that I have known for a long time told me that he should shove my face into the cake. I said like to see you try and then another friend made a comment that they would like to see us in a food fight. (I was thinking about this website and the members the whole time... lol) Anyways so he took his finger and picked up some frosting from his slice and smeared it on my nose. So then I took my whole slice and threw it at him. Missing his face, it went all over the front of his shirt.

After that happened, he got really pissed off and called me a bitch. I thought he was just saying that out of the fun we where having, but then he looked at me right in the face and said "think about what your doing before you do it" He then told me that it was a brand new shirt that was spendy and told me that I should know better that he has little money.

I soon just felt awful, I wanted to actually cry. I didn't think he would get so angry with me. I thought the time was right to have some messy fun. I guess not. Anyone else here have such an experience? I feel so stupid now....

Yeah... Unfortunately, you gotta be careful in the "real world." People getting messy when they're not prepared for it are VERY unhappy people, generally. (Or even if they're "sort of" prepared: Years ago, a nameless producer finished his vid with the model out in the parking lot, about to leave the shoot, when he pies her again. She gets PISSED. Thought it was just acting... Turns out, she kinda agreed to it, but once it actually happened, she realized she'd have to go back to the hotel, re-shower, change clothes again... and became PISSED for real.)

My one experience, however, was actually fine. This was nearly a decade BEFORE the beginning of SlapstickStuff, and I was just some college punk getting drunk w/friends for New Year's Eve. We had someone's cake in the room, and this cute girl (now married w/2 kids, OUCH) was leaning over it, and I just shoved her face into it. She was shocked... and COVERED. I smushed some more cake in her face as she stood there shellshocked, then another girl caked me, and then the 3 of us had a fun lil' food fight.

But the moral of the story: We were all very DRUNK. Which helped. And she was a fun, goofy, ditzy girl... which also helped. Also: Cake icing is REALLY hard to wash off your face, hair, and clothes. Did I mention we were all drunk?

Either way,tell the clown that if he doesn't want retaliation, don't invite it by assulting you with food first.

You know what, just remember that it was -his- first thought & idea to start smearing the cake. And then did it by putting a dab on your nose. He had a double standard and wanted it only one way. So don't feel too bad. Learn from this and go on. Feel people out more, even test them in other ways. Next time, warn them of the consequences of starting a food fight - they'll get it ! So think of this as a test and he failed it. Don't worry about it. If he is a real friend then he'll get over it very soon.

Yeah, it's hard to separate your more "passionate" interest from the real-world perception of it BUT the guy started it after all. Not only did he bring it up first but he made the first move. Don't start nothin, won't be nothin. I guess the polite thing would be to offer him a new shirt but I don't think you should feel all that bad.

And as you give him the new shirt tell your friend to man up and get some perspective.

Not commenting on the original post per se, but regarding the followups: Even as a wam enthusiast, I'd be sort of annoyed if somebody surprised me with a caking or whatever. I mean, if it happened to be a hot girl, I'd get over it and wam her back, but if it was some drunken guy friend, I'd be pretty unhappy about it....

That is a fair point. I'm guessing he wouldn't be as annoyed if it hit his face and not his shirt.

Even then i wouldn't start a food fight unless I had consent.

What you did was pretty harmless so swearing at you was certainly out of order.
I wouldnt remain freinds with a guy who was prepared to speak to me that way and he would be made aware of this whether id know him a long time or not.
People make mistakes and if he was your freind he would be nice about it. I know my freinds would find something like that hilarious and we would have all fallen about laughing. If i got the horrible reaction that you got i would have told him that
1 - id buy him a new t shirt
2 - under no circumstance is he to ever swear at me like that
3 - get over it cos he started it
4 - to stop whinging like a baby...... lol the list goes on lol

Yah it probably would have been a less tense of a situation if we where quite drunk. I couldn't imagine trying to ice a cake while being intoxicated. lol

Thank yous, I mean I didn't mean to stain his shirt and we where all laughing at the occasion. I guess what hurt the most was the way he cursed at me. That was totally unexpected and rude.

I still do for some reason. Don't get me wrong, I have a lot of cute tops that I would be upset if something happened to them. But I would never start a food fight while wearing them knowing what could happen. Even if something did, I wouldn't be to mad cause life is to short to be mad at the people you love over material things. :p My hair is a different story however!

Sounds like the classic case of I can do it but you can't. The guy thinks it's cool to dish out something (like stated above), but can't take some of his own medicine.

Another possible view of this situation.
Guy fancies Angel face. Decides to put cake icing on her nose hoping to start face touching possibly leading to snog. Angel face throws cake at him. He takes it as rejection from her. Friends laugh. Guy feels humiliated and over reacts.
This may not be the case at all but it's possible and would make your friends actions more understandable. Another possibility is that he's experienced icing on the nose in films and real life as an affectionate gesture but sees throwing food as an aggressive gesture. We're all brought up differently and have different views on social interaction.

Keeri, you poor thing. You can't catch a break. If anything like this ever happens again, consider saying something like...

"Hey, I'm definitely up for a food fight if you are -- but not here, not in these clothes, and not with so little ammo! Let's set a date and settle this properly."

Then invite everyone else to join in. Worst case he backs down and you look like a food fight badass. Best case you have a massive food fight party and pie all of your friends.
