Yes indeed, we're trying out a bold experiment here at SlapstickStuff. Remember the old "RAW Bar" download store that used to sell uncut footage from our standard-def shoots? But stopped updating in 2011 when we switched to HD? Well it's back... RAW.SlapstickStuff.com
Over the years I've gotten a few requests for smaller file sizes, mainly from those with slower computers who have long download times... Or their systems can't handle full 720p files. I don't know if there's a REAL audience out there or not, but rather than take a poll, I just decided to render the new Angie scenes in SD.
So: These are IDENTICAL to the HD files in every single respect... except they're SD, obviously. That's 852 x 480 resolution, WMV format. That's files hovering under 300MB for 40 minutes (versus close to 1GB for the HD ones). Obviously I'd prefer for folks to see my stuff in the highest quality possible... But I also understand that some are in a position where ease of use wins out over quality. (Especially if your system gives you issues with 720p files.)
Anyway, feel free to email me with questions, but it should be self-explanatory. SD downloads are still in a completely separate store from HD ones, so there should be zero confusion in terms of which one you're buying. (But yeah, if you make a mistake you can message me... )
Did I mention that Angie is still ridiculously hot, and funny, and crazy, and MESSY... Even in 480p?? Enjoy!
If you're after smaller filesize, why not use a more modern file format than crappy old WMV? The de facto standard these days for video is H.264 in a MP4. It's the format used by HTML5 video across most of the web.
As I test, I used Handbrake to convert ToshiaRAWScene1.wmv (388MB) to H.264 and it ended up being 305MB (a savings of 21%) with essentially no loss in quality.
I used MP4 briefly with some standard-def videos back in 2011... and folks complained it didn't work for them. :-S
Everything in the HD stores is, and has been, MP4. The older standard-def stores are all WMV. I suppose I could render the newer files down to SD MP4, but I felt it made more sense to keep everything the same format.
The full HD files wind up being 800+ MB even with H.264 MP4...
