It seems that we have outgrown our server's capabilities (again) and would be interested to know if you have any recommendations for both reliability and price. Don't baffle me too much with geeky stuff!!
I'm no expert, but I reckon you will need to give a little more info - like what operating system you use, how much bandwidth you use and what sort of connection you have.

By "server" do you mean physical hardware, or hosting company? Assuming you mean hardware, then exactly what to go for depends a lot on where the current limitations are. If you're seeing very high processor loads, then you probably want to think of a box with multiple cores and lots of memory, if on the other hand it's disk space that's the problem and load is low, then you want something that will take several 3TB drives.
What kind of kit are you currently using?
Saturation Hall's main webserver is actually built from scavenged parts from a dozen old servers from companies that went bust about 2004, very Mad Max (and yes, it's a big blank black box in the datacentre!), but has very large modern hard drives, as the primary problem we face is disk space, and it runs an up to date version of Linux with regular upgrades.
ISTR your site is PHP on Linux, so you don't need expensive Windows hosting kit. Lots of people will recommend branded servers from Dell or HP, which come with full maintenance contracts, but assuming you know a techie who knows what he or she is doing, you can get solid and reliable kit built from generic parts from your local system builder that will do the same for a fraction of the price.

If you do want any other help feel free to contact me Bill either here or through Mike Nomic who knows my personal details as this is right up my street as he will tell you
