Hey Gang,

Many older wammers may recall Rob Blaine, who passed away nearly 10 years ago on Halloween 2000. Rob was one of the first professional USA wam producer of videos and pic sets and even created a messy forum pre UMD as well as the Messy Fun website. He also published a newsletter called Messy Fun news that advertised all his newest and older releases as well as other wam producers material and also had classifieds for other wammers to contact each other. Rob was a class act if there ever was one and had a fun sense of humor and because he listed his home phone number on each newsletter and video he sold, he was the first contact many of us had.

Here's how I found Rob. Up until mid 1991 I thought I was the only person in the world who enjoyed seeing women get messy and pied in the face. Then one day I discovered a British mag called Razzle and in the back it had an advert for WAMTEC/Mark Kelly wet and messy vids. I contacted him via snail mail and he had these cliptapes of various scenes with women getting messy as well as videos he shot with British women getting messy. Soon after wards (within a few weeks) he told me about Rob's Messy Fun and I contacted him and we hit it off as he was open to doing scenes that I created the scripts for and also paid him money to create.

From what I recall I had him do a scene with Ariel and Tuesday getting pied in a quiz show, then the famous Ariels Pie Shop with Ariel and Cassandra. I also pitched in mega dollars for Robs 12 girl pie fight which he loosely based on the Great Race pie fight but used only females in it. He had a Natalie Wood lookalike model in the red satin band coat do her best imitation of the reactions. I also gave him money for another scene that was a spoof of the Jerry Springer show that he had never released nor has
been released after his death. He didn't get a chance to edit it and by a miracle I was able to get a copy of the raw footage after his passing thru a mutual friend who he shared a copy with. It was his bet pie video ever in my opinion.

I finally met Rob in 1996 in Florida for some messy shoots with Mark Kelly and Hurley Coward (another pied woman vet who's gone from the wam world) and some of those ended up on Mark Kellys SSS series. Rob was mainly into mud but he did enjoy cake batter and paint and pies and to a degree wetlook. He was very much a gentleman and so full of life and a very happy person and it was great working with him.

I'll never forget the day I got an email from Neil at Amateur pies and he told me Rob had died, he was found a day or 2 later after suffering a fatal heart attack at his apartment. He was laid to rest in Austin Texas and his surviving parents now owned his estate of messy vids, editing equiptment and records of his customers and more Messy Fun related data. They asked around looking to sell the Messy Fun business and after a few years found a buyer. But when the new owners took over it was nothing like what Rob had been running and evidently has disappeared like one of his nude models in a quicksand video. Which I think is sad as Rob put everything he had into Messy Fun to make it one of the best wam sites/stores available.

When Rob died so did Messy Fun and all the verbal agreements we had between us. Such as I was able to sell/trade the videos I comissioned or sponsored privately. I just couldn't bear to do it after his death, as I lost one of my closest wam producer buds.

But, with his passing came inspiration. Soon afterwards I tried to branch out on my own, and with the help of Mark Kelly, was able to do a full out pie shoot with fresh faced models. Soon afterwards I was doing them on my own, not just in
Florida but in California. After seeing and hearing whats involved in doing these huge shoots I wanted to do them myself.
One of my regrets is that I am not able to show Rob what I have done with wam. I'd love to hear what his opinion is of my work with Pievids, Excessive Mess and Lennys Pied babes.

SO, in tribute to my old friend Rob I'm hosting a special sale at my www.excessivemess.com website, where I will be discounting 10 of my best selling videos for only $10 each. These are the 2-4 girl pie scenes that are the style Rob would have shot indoors and outdoors. The sale will start as soon as I announce it in a new topic later this week with which volumes have been discounted to $10 each. I want to keep this tribute seperate from a full sales announcement.

This has to be the longest post I've ever posted here but I just can't say in a few words what Rob was to me and the rest of the old wam group pre internet. He was definitely
a true pioneer of wam if there ever was one. And its info all the new wammers should know about how hard it was to get wam material over a decade ago, and the lack of it as well. Everything now is click click click download there it is-back then we waited MONTHS for a tape or had to spend hours every day taping TV shows then scanning thru trying to catch messy clips. And so many clips/scenes were missed as there were only a handfull of regular tapers in the Pie Mafia run by Hurley. All that hard work is taken for granted now.

One last thing-I don't have any pics of Rob-if anyone does please post them here. Or if you have a story about Rob you may also post it here as this is a dedication to his work on the 10 anniversarry of his passing.

10 years gone and I'm still missing Rob.

Spring of '96, in my last year of college, I spent my first evening 'alone' with the internet. That's the night I discovered Messy Fun, and my lifelong fetish was finally vindicated.

Ah, the man, the myth, the legend. I discovered WAM within 6 months of getting the internet as a teenager in 1998. The first two sites I found were Crazygirls and Messyfun. My favorite MFV memories:

1- The first video clip of a professional WAM scene was the promo for Messyfun volume 13 - title "At the Messy Movies" (later becoming one of the first MFV tapes I bought). The thing was, the clip was about 3 minutes and using the ancient dial-up speed, the clip loaded absurdly slowly. After watching the first 30 seconds about 20 times, I finally found a time when I could leave the computer running without my Mom/sister coming in. It took just over 2.5 hours to load the entire clip. It was worth it.

2- When buying WAM videos as a teen, one needs to buy things that one can use a money order for (Hurley, Phoebe, etc.). Messyfun required a credit card or check, of which I had free access to neither. Undaunted, I casually dropped hints to my Dad that I was looking online to purchase old WWF wrestling pay-per-views on tape. In the end, my Dad wrote a check to Rob Blaine for $45 to purchase a collection of WWF pay-per-views (read: two MFV volumes and the MFV sampler). Once again, it was worth it. Ironically, the closest I came to getting "caught" by my Mom was when an MFV catalog came to our house addressed to my Dad (thankfully I intercepted it).


When it was up and running, Messyfun's member site was the best deal one could get in WAM - an archive of outstanding scenes for $20 (Messygirl's site has acheived this status now, but in the mid 2000's no site had this much content for a membership). To this day, no site has matched the spirit of MFV: covering all the bases of WAM - paint, mud, pies, batter, wetlook, girl-on-girl - while managing to include storylines and homages to classic WAM movie scenes - the man was a master of the craft, and though I never met him, his work inspired many and made me proud to be a WAMer. I hope everybody gets a chance to see his work at some point, because in many ways they still the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be.

RIP Rob Blaine - the Bret Hart of WAM.

Rob was my friend from 1992 till 2000 when I left Austin for California, we used to hang out several days of the week, talk tech stuff, editing, models and idea's for movies. I probably did stills or 2nd camera for 80% of his movies.

Morn than that he was my friend and confidant and Shaun and I both were devastated when he died. Like Lenny said I wish he was still around, I think he would be happy with what I am doing...

Rob had contacted me about providing music for his movies. (I'm a music composer and producer) It never happened, but we spoke on the phone and I remember his great sense of humor and friendly nature. I also had some of the newsletters which he would mail by post to anyone who requested them. (at his own expense) It's hard to believe it's already ten full years!

I had found Mud Puddle Visuals on a bulletin board (pre-web) and then when the web came about in 95 or 96, one of the first websites I discovered was MessyFun. I probably right-clicked and saved every sample image that was there, as it was also the first real proof that I was not abnormal, and that other people also liked to see visuals of muddy and messy women.

Many thumbs up to Rob who was a true pioneer in shooting the videos and photos he loved, and having the courage to start something new and different, without the fear of being seen as abnormal. He blazed a trail for many of us to follow!

is it already that long; time flies when youre having fun. Just like it was yesterday. maybe all producers should honour him with a special set. His material is still great to watch altough it looks a little outdated

The first I had heard of him or his site was back in 1994, my freshman year in college.

I'm in the computer lab, working on a project. A couple of computers down, I glance at a guy's screen, and he had an image of a gorgeous woman emerging from a field of creamy clay. It looked glorious. I quickly peek at the address, and it said messyfun.com

I jotted it down, and waited for a computer in the back of the lab to be free, then went there to see more of this site.

Still not sure who the guy was that accidentally left the computer on that site, but I guess I gotta thank him.

And I gotta thank Rob, too. We miss ya.

My tale is much like those of others here - grew up thinking I must be the only one who found the prospect of attractive female celebrities getting gunged (I'm a brit) attractive until, in my case 1994 when computer labs became freely available to all students at my uni, I discovered the internet. A few searches later, and bang, messyfun.com became my most visited site.

I never conversed with Rob but I always found it absolutely staggering that he managed to put together such apparently lavish productions - gorgeous girls, great clothes and uncompromised mess in various forms. I think I'm still *slightly* in love with his model Carolyn after seeing MFV13 for the first time.

He was a trailblazer and he'll be missed. Given what he achieved without the ready access to high quality production and distribution methods afforded to producers today, one shudders to think what his back catalogue would be like today had he not been taken too soon.

Sadly missed Rob. R.I.P.

P.S - Lenny the revelation (to me at least) that there's raw footage of an unseen scene begs the question - could it be allowed to see the light of day? Even a description of the models involved and the scenarios would be of huge interest to many of the great man's fans here.

My story is identical to all the others so no point in rehashing what everyone has said. I'd purchased many vids from Rob and I still feel that Ariel's is the best of the lot. The pies he used in that vid where top-notch and I've not seen anyone use pies like that since. His direction over the girls in all his scenes was also spot on. His are some of the only pie scenes that I watch with the volume on.
I also would love to hear any details on the "lost" clip that you mentioned, Lenny.

Same for me, although it was Summer 1998. The VERY FIRST web search I ever did was for Messy Girls, and Messy fun was the first site I came across. And finally after years of thinking otherwise, I realised I wasn't alone.

(That night, I came pretty hard too in the light of thinking about my new discovery!)

Something that I suppose isn't as much of a fetish for me as a prerequisite for finding a girl attractive, is that I have always loved long, straight, shiny hair on a girl, and to that end I will always remember Rob for making a point of mentioning on the front of the Messy Fun home page that the majority of his models had very long hair! Do long hair and WAM go together? I know a lot of people like to see girls getting their hair messy - perhaps that's a topic for another thread.....

I can't believe it's already been ten years since he passed away.... that has really gone by quickly...

I remember seeing a half-page ad for MessyFun in the first issue of Splosh magazine I ever found. If memory serves the ad had a photo of Amanda in a Catwoman costume ("Mudgirl") lying up to her chest in a clay pit and playfully making claw gestures. I knew I had found something brilliant that fulfilled so many of my visual fantasies.

I got on the internet at home shortly thereafter, and ordered a few MF vids, each of which was more mindblowing than the last. Rob Blaine was such a class act. When moved out of the US and wrote again to try and obtain the most recent Messy News, he included a note asking "Is this ----- from Los Angeles?" it was a personal touch I loved. When he passed on one could tell a great era of production in this community had come to an end. When MF's webmistress Mary recruited me to do some UMD writing, and particularly when the latter-day MF began posting classic raw footage I was thrilled to help, in any small way, of keep his spirit alive.

There are a lot of incredible talents making WAM photos and videos today, and I suspect if Rob was still around he wouldn't view anyone as a competitor, but as a friend and collaborator. To my mind, he laid the groundwork for this great work with his eye for onscreen talent and his skill in making epic-length messy movies. Ten years on...wow, he's missed so incredibly much, but it also feels good to celebrate what he helped bring about.

Rob was a great great person. I remember the first time I met him where I was working at the time. He came in with Carolyn, one of the models at Messyfun. He seemed like a really genuine, nice person.
Over the years I got to know him better, and he was just always one of those friends you always knew you could count on. I still miss being able to just call him up, and I will always miss his messages asking to meet for lunch...I lived just a few blocks away from him, and Rob loved going out to eat...he was always asking the girls to lunch, and asking us how things were going. He just wasn't one of those producers who didn't care, who didn't want to stay in touch, and he genuinely seemed to care about the welfare and happiness of each and every one of us.
I saw him just two days before he died at lunch. He talked to me about my life, and talked about his as well....I'm grateful that I got that last chance to talk to him.
It's a testiment to the kind of person he was that EVERY single model that was still in the area showed up at the impromptu memorial service that George and Daisy put together.
He never gossiped or talked bad about anyone - to the best of my knowledge - and he never put anyone else down...on or off the internet. He lived a good life, was true to himself, and was considerate and thoughtful of others. If only we were all as good to others as he was!
Every now and then when I talk to George or to one of the models that knew him, we always end up saying "I wish he were still here".
George and I bought Messyfun about five or six months after he died, after his Mom contacted George. George then tried to sell it to someone who had financial and other issues, so the sale was cancelled after about a year of legal wranglings, and was signed over to me by George.
I'm glad the site is still online (though not like what it once was) I hope to one day have the DVD catalog back up again as well. I think he would want it to still be up there. The internet has changed and so has WAM, but I'd like to think there are at least a few other people out there who would like to see the site still up and running, and the videos online.
Rob is buried in San Antonio, where his father was buried as well.

I miss you Rob! Damn, every time I pass that restaurant you always wanted to meet at I think of you! I wish you were still here for us to talk to. I hope that somewhere up there, you are covered in mud with a big smile on your face looking down at all of us.

Sorry for the long reply everyone. I know that most people prefer short and sweet but it's hard to only say a few words about such a great person.

I also had a very enjoyable personal relationship with Rob. As it happened, I was one of his favorite phone contacts because he was a night owl, and with the two hour time difference, it worked out quite well. In fact, he used to joke about staying up late enough to call Roger in the UK while Roger was waking up!

Anyways, Rob was gracious enough to mention the original MPV BBS is his Messy News newsletter. Without that, I'm not sure there would still be a Mud Puddle Visuals. Maybe there would, but it would have gotten off to a much slower start.

So, hats off to Rob and our other WAM friends that have passed. We miss you.

I remember being only 19 years old, way before i even thought about owning a computer. My girlfriend at the time was the only person on earth that i had told about my interest. One night, she was reading an x-rated magazine and started yelling for me to come look at what she found. it was an ad for messy fun videos. that was the moment i realized i wasn't alone. there were actually other people that enjoyed seeing women messy. i ordered a video as fast as i could. when it came, she and i watched it together. she thought it looked fun and started letting me pie her and video tape it. that was 1994, and i've been doing amateur videos ever since. when i finally got around to getting a computer and internet access, rob was the one who took the time on the phone to walk me through all the messy sites that were available back then (which weren't many.) he was my first connection to the wam world and i'll never forget him as long as i live! i just can't believe it's been 10 years already. i guess time flies when you're throwing pies!

As many of you have previously stated...Messy Fun was one of the first websites I found when I got onto the internet in the 1990's...and...THANK GOD!!!...made me feel normal!

I've always wanted The Unveiling to be fully released as a download. I know some clips were available from the video (MFV11 I think), but I always wanted buy the section of tape where this photo image was taken from. (See below). Does anyone know where I can buy this scene from?

Rob and Hurley were the first people that I chatted with whom made me feel normal to love seeing women get creamed with pies. I never met Rob, but we talked a few times and it felt like I knew him when I heard of his death. It is hard to believe that is has been this long already.

We can all keep him alive by remembering. Has anyone heard from Hurley by the way?

'Pie Wedgies' is still one of my favorite videos. I love every girl who starred in that movie, and the hits were fantastic.

Rob was the MAN!!!!! Never got to meet him in person, spoke on the phone several times. I will never forget the first time I saw an add in a mag for his vids. That was before most of us had a pc yet. I thought I had died and gone to heaven, here is someone making vids of the fetish that drives me wild that you had to hunt forever to to find a rare pic here or brief clip on a movie or tv. Remember the days when you rented a movie for five bucks just to watch a 20 second messy scene. Then along comes Rob!!!!!

I already knew I was into WAM, with shaving cream, mud, and lipstick, clown make-up coming up on my screen,and girls covered in who knows what!It made me also feel normal, and not strange!
