Hey guys. As another safety measure, I'm resetting passwords of everyone who accessed the site in the past couple of weeks, in case your password was obtained by phishing attempts. The new one will be sent to the e-mail we have for you on file, and you can use it immediately to log in. Please change it to something more memorable once you get in, and as always don't forget to update your passwords on other sites, especially if you use the same one.
To members - just a heads up. If the new password e-mailed to you does not work (as happened to me!) then please use the "Forgot Password" and follow the simple instructions - including making a new password.

Yes. I don't have record of who would definitely have been affected, because phishing happens off-site where they try to get you to type in your password. I can't know who was tricked or not, and phishing can get pretty sleazy at pretending to be a site! The best bet is to just reset all passwords for everyone who's logged in, and send you new ones. I'm online and on e-mail all day / night to solve login problems.

Thanks Libby, good point. I'm also answering problems all day.

Not five minutes earlier, I sent a strongly worded...well, strongly abbreviated, message to the site monitor/s addressing this very problem moments before reading this thread and seeing it was a site wide issue. I apologize for my abruptness, I had no clue that this was as pandemic as it's been. No harm, no foul; love this site and the people in it.
Just Wonderful.....you changed my password and supposedly sent a new pw link to my email box...but my ISP (comcast) has blacklisted this site and will not deliver emails from your system....so now I am screwed cos you changed my password and I cannot login and I cannot receive the email link to reset it.....so now I am forced to login into UMD using another login I created for Topwam....but you guys have now locked me out of my main user profile (wamtec)....so...I cannot receive your emails and I cannot login cos you changed my pw.
So...I need the admin to go into to my profile and repair my login and pw so I can login to my wamtec profile....
So...as comcast is blocking emails from you...please send my pw reset infos to my yahoo.com email address.....which you can display if you look at my Topwam user profile...
This site needs to have a secondary email feature, where if you are unable to reach me on my primary email address, your system will cc copy me at my secondary email address.....

Nope....your password reset for my wamtec profile does not work either.....
Let me know when you can fix the logins on this site....
tks MK
The issue is of course any password change requires you to confirm it at your Comcast account - which you are unable to. I did think about changing your e-mail account to accept the new password but as you can't confirm the new password (or know the one sent earlier) you still would be unable to log in.
Given myself a brain freeze by going all technical there.
Interesting puzzle which I think only Messmaster can resolve by going into the dark reaches of the UMD system
Hopefully all will be resolved and harmony will be restored.
my emailed password diddnt work either my only problem my wifes account (splatter) was connected to a very old email address which we no longer have access to is there any way we can change it ??

Of course... this actually happened to a lot (read: hundreds) of people. I'm taking care of everybody one-by-one. Please have her contact me or e-mail me with her original e-mail and username and I'll hook her up.
Maybe a good thing this happened. We're updating a lot of stale info and passwords around hurrr.
...I'm still online and standing by for all who need help getting in. The Contact Us form is open, and you can e-mail me as well. Sorry once again for the frustrations I had to put you through.
One thing I just discovered: Live also blacklists umd, but I found a workaround.
1. Log in to Live 2. Click the gear in the upper right corner 3. Select "Options" 4. Under "Preventing Junk E-Mail," select "Safe and Blocked Senders" 5. Click "Safe Senders" 6. Add "@umd.net" to the list 7. Request a password reset e-mail again. It should go through this time.
