Has anyone had any problems uploading to UMD lately? I've just uploaded my latest messy vid (Pancake Day 2012) and had big problems getting it uploaded.
The FTP has never worked (thanks MessMaster for looking at it, but it won't connect), and uploading from my home was very slow and failed several times. I know for a fact this is not my broadband connection because i'm hooked up with a super-duper high-speed symmetric line.
But since that was playing up i asked a friend to upload it from his workplace. He works for an IT company with a 200Mbps fibre (200Mb both directions), and even he had problems getting it online and could only achieve 200Kbps maximum speed.
UMD - are you suffering bandwidth shortages or is your server not capable of high-speed uploads? I'm just asking for my own future reference so i don't get frustrated at the slow speeds.
Thanks! Katie x

I have my FTP set to passive for it, you may want to check that if you haven't already.
Hi Noise, i've tried every setting possible with FTP and even tried manually uploading from the DOS command line but i get the same error every time "421 Home directory not available - aborting", then it gives "Could not connect to server". This happens on Passive, Active and Auto-Detect. I can't see this being a problem with my network at home because my friend (the IT guy) had exactly the same problem and error code when he tried it from work. Oh well, guess i'm stuck with HTTP for now
