I have been clicking 'stay logged in' but have to re log in every time I come back.

Also in my preferences, I select 'Yes' for "Show large pics inside of forum posts instead of thumbnails?" but it doesn't save the selection. As soon as I go back to preferences, it's back to 'no' again.

Nothing serious, but probably worth mentioning.

No, I have other settings, passwords, etc. staying for other websites. Sometimes the UMD keeps me logged in when I return, and sometimes I have to enter my password. But that I can live with, it's the preferences that are annoying, as I can't keep things the way I'd like them.

 

This just might be a situation of Messmaster rebooting the site. Twice, in the last 2 weeks, I've arrived at the UMD to discover I wasn't logged in and had to log in using my password.

That's interesting. Me rebooting wouldn't clear your cookies. You'd remain logged in as long as the cookie is on your computer. Mid, the log should tell you if you were automatically booted due to an old cookie (and not checking the "keep me logged in box," or due to logging in at a different computer.

 

It's the preferences that seem to be consistently not working. Lately, I am logged in whenever I come back to the site, so that seems to be working ok. But when I change the preferences, some of them don't 'stick', specifically the one I mentioned at the start of this thread.

 

I've got a preference that doesn't want to stick too (when I log in I get the white colour scheme though I've set it to be black).
I think there must be some bug(s) way down deep in the preferences code.

 

I'm not seeing this behavior here myself, but it may have something to do with Firefox. When I upgraded to the latest version, a few sites where I am normally logged on for weeks are now "timing out" or something after about 24 hours.
