Hey guys,
Noel Edmonds is just an example of my theory, but what if people like himself are actually wammers? I mean I have heard of people going to extraordinary lengths to get what they want including myself, and if you are a wammer what better way than to have a TV show where people get gunged and most of the time you get to choose the person!
I know it sounds far fetched but I wonder if there was ever anything in it for him at all, maybe he even visits the UMD or is even reading this post! Nah too far, but to conclude with a question I would ask. Do you think that some celebrities on TV that are involved with wam get themselves into the situation purposely for their own benefit?

I thought exactly the same thing at the time he had his Saturday evening show , that Noel Edmunds was probably a wammer. And I wouldn't be surprised if there were some others!

I'm sure presenters of kid's programmes are OK, after all, most kids love anything silly, anarchic or messy, it's all part of growing up. But some of the happenings in adult progs seem very contrived.....

(And I can't stand Noel Edmunds!)

If Noel was a wammer, I think we'd have seen a few more pretty ladies in the gunge tank over the years.

I have seen him an interview saying the gunge tank was his least favourite part of the shows and I didn't want it in...I think the rest of the production staff are the wammers

I couldn't agree more with pie_chap's comment. The amount of times I spent watching it for female gungings at the time and they were few.

Noel's Saturday Roadshow, which started in 1988 featured the game "In Other Words". I was very excited because the first two or three weeks' contestants were attractive, nicely dressed women and they all got gunged, but as the show ran on over the following weeks they began to alternate men/women. This was quite a reliable pattern for a while (for setting the video!) although, of course, they didn't always 'lose'.

The House Party changed the pretext of the gungings from quiz forfeit to general 'disciplining' and they became decidedly focussed on celebrity men. I continued to watch NHP until the end, just in case, but apart from one or two (Jenny Hull for e.g. and a couple of audience members), it was rarely worth it.

Oh, and quite right, Silver_Sea, I've seen several interviews in which he declares his dislike and disinterest in gunge and I remember him saying several times before the IOW item "I hate this part of the show.." and thinking: If you don't like it, surely you could stop it?

I've certainly seen it said that Noel himself disliked certain elements of his show - but after all, if they were the most popular parts of it.... I mean, he can't have enjoyed playing this total git every weekend (and it was an act - he used to do Telly Addicts at the same time, and he was such a nice guy on that. Then the show was revamped. And died). It's also been pointed out that going by his reactions, he thought individual instances of his series of practical jokes were funny!

I believe part of the reason Tiswas ended was because the producers were worried about the motivations of their growing adult audience. Ultimately, mess on tv is meant, I believe, to be funny. Not a turn-on.

Not in the slightest, You had the build up and the gunging and then cut to something else, If your a wammer you would leave the recipiant in fall view for at least five minutes not wheel them of set to clean up, Every updated version got weaker and sillier like the trip around the house and contained far to many men, Could be he is into gay wam i suppose. Tiswas died because all the talent left and just Sally James on her own was not enough to keep kids interested, Like MOM and Dick and Dom its just of its time and the presenters move on. Unlike Noel who just nicks ideas that have worked for others.

Yes, he was. In the sense that he wammed people.
