There are a couple of popular threads on here regarding people wanting to make separate forums for content that they personally don't want to see, which ain't gonna happen. But as promised, I went ahead and built a filter for yall.

If you hover over a name in the "Started By" column, you will see a little "x". Click it, and that person's posts will no longer show up on any main forum. This does not affect their replies to others' posts.

UMD Forum will give you a little button in the upper right-hand corner reminding you that you are filtering the posts. Click it and you will be taken to your profile Subscriptions area, where you can remove the filters at your leisure. You must be logged in to use this feature because it stores your filter preferences in with your user profile: They will be remembered if you sign in on a different computer.

The idea is to take a moment and click the X next to every "spammy plugger" or "person who posts stuff with dudes in it" or "xxx producer" you don't like.

Hope this ends some of the moaning!

Wow this is a pretty good idea.

Can you report back in a month with the stats? How many people used it versus how many people actually used the forum... maybe how many people who used the forum more than three times as well, so we can see how many regular users used it.

I have a few lines of code adding lines of statistics into the database. This whole stats thing will probably only be temporary because they're a relatively unnecessary drain on the server that happens with each main forum page load. The stats are here:

It goes by page loads. So if one person blocks someone and then loads 10 main forum pages, that person will be "blocked" 10 times. I think this is a superior way to think of the stats, because page loads are more meaningful than uniques IMO.

Those of you filtering Devo77 - it doesn't work that way. Only threads started by him will be hidden.

I was wondering why I was so freaking high on the list. I was totally mystified by how the number kept on going higher and higher as I kept refreshing the page, even though I wasn't blocking anyone new.

Am I the only one who isn't seeing any Xs?
Rather, there's a bit of confusion on the page that comes up for me.
I still get the general forum page, but the column headers are chopped up and scattered...?

Loving this feature already, havn't used it to stop the so called spamming ( ) rather to just filter producers i'm not particularly interested by. Thanks for the constant improvements to the site dude

Seriously, it would help more if you posted your browser. I'm using K-Meleon (a sort of lite Firefox) and it works fine.

Both firefox and IE have the remix for me. Which is a shame, the original had a smooth vibe that i could dig. This chopped and screwed just sounds like noise to me.

This is a cool way to hide the stuff people don't want to see without all the complaints. Great job, and geez, you did this pretty fast! It was only just mentioned!

Have you tried hovering your cursor of the name of the person that started the post? That's when it shows up for me on Firefox.

Okay I've added some stuff to the stats to make them a bit more clear. Apparently, just putting the # of page hits was confusing people!

Now there is a "# of Users Filtered" / "# of Users Filtering" column. So now you can clearly see that just a few people can cause dozens and dozens of hits.
