We visited our mile long 'Clay Lake' yesterday, and found it is only about six inches under water now with about a foot of very soft mud underneath! The mud is clay-based and dark, just like chocolate pudding! We're keeping our fingers crossed that the evaporation will continue into September without the temperature dropping too fast. That way we can shoot some vids there in a HUGE area of beautiful mud!
Our smaller 'clay pond' was underwater again yesterday, due to rains we had a few days ago. I guess it takes time for the surface water from fields, etc. to make it's way out of the creek and into the St. Lawrence river. We'll be shooting more video on the weekend there, as the sun is to shine for many days in a row.
Lastly, I ordered and paid for my video camera, the high definition one. It should arrive on Monday. The newer videos will be shot at hi res, but we'll keep our prices the same. This is a small splash-proof vid camera that will be mounted on my goggles, so I can do hands-free video shooting. (comes in handy when holding a bucket of mud, or trying to keep an air mattress (with Marlicious on it) from floating off)
