My fiancee and I have engaged in a few messy sessions using edibles (chocolate syrup, pudding, whipped cream, peanut butter, frosting, cake batter) as well as shaving cream. We are now ready to try using mud, specifically clay, in our bathtub. Can anyone point me in the right direction for acquiring some safe to use clay? I was thinking kaolonite, or blackbird clay? Where could I find that, or is there a better solution? Any help is appreciated.
Both are fine, you can get it from a pottery store. Buy a bag of powder clay and mix it to the consistency you want. But, when you mix it make sure to use a mask in a well ventilated area. Breathing in clay dust is just as bad as breathing in glass dust. I use a paint/cement mixing bit on a drill to mix it in a 5 gallon bucket.
Better yet find your local Co-Op or farm supply store, and ask for either "Vole Clay" or "sodium bentonite clay". Comes in 50 lb bag, and is considerably cheaper. Mix in a lot for thick, or a little for runny, and washes away easily with more water. It's usually food grade, or what I've been getting is, so it's safe to use!

Bentonite clay works just fine for me. It gets really slippery when mixed right. And can be easly purchased from benoniteplus.com in a sex mud kit (#2 bag of powdered clay and drop cloth)
Thanks for all the help! I found bentonite powder at Vitamin Shoppe. We used a mixer to get a pretty thick consistency. It was pretty hot! Highly recommended!cery easy clean up, and we both thoroughly enjoyed ourselves
We did. We live in an apartment, which does not use septic. And, we only used about a pound of clay powder, which seemed to make a lot of clay. It's consistency was like a very thick pudding. Felt amazing, and my fiancée looked amazing. She had some trouble with her hair afterwards, made it a little coarse. We will be doing it again soon !
I have a few health concerns about trace elements in Bentonite clay and I'd feel bad if I didn't post this link to the UK Food Standards Agency advice warning here. I'd be happy to be reassured by anyone who knows better.
