I have selected 5 different pics to post both on the forum and also my profile pics .When i submit only one picture is posted but that is duplicated by how many i have selected so i am getting 5 of the same pics showing......any suggestions?

Assuming this problem is specific to your computer, can you tell us what operating system you are using (e.g. Windows 7, Windows XP, Mac OS X, etc.)

Also, what browser are you using (e.g. Firefox, Internet Explorer, Chrome, etc.)

What version of browser are you using? (usually found under the help -> about menu)

I'm going to upload a couple of photos, just to make sure it still works for me ...

windows xp professional with firefox 5 browser,it was working fine up till tuesday

Has anything changed on your system, recently? Have you tried using IE? (I know IE sux, but it might help to narrow down the source of the problem.)

come to think of it there was an automatic restart after a windows update the other day while i was out the room

My first guess is to see if the filenames on your computer are unusually long (new camera or different photo software or settings?). Also, check that the filenames in the upload boxes really are different before clicking "Save Now".

As a temporary work-around, you could try uploading the pictures one at a time.

This is a unique problem. I can't think why UMD itself would be duplicating your picture to 3 times! And only for you! Do you have any sort of accellerator installed on your computer which tries to make multiple connections to upload a file? That's all I can really think of right now....
