The act of throwing a pie can have a variety of interpretations.

Some may see a form of humiliation while others will see a free spirited playfulness.

The act itself has no fixed, immutable "meaning".

It's on the path to sadism in the same way alcohol is on the path to heroin.


If the person is unwilling and humiliated you take joy from the humiliation, then yes. It's in the ballpark.

I think you have to consider the context or the intent. I know if I was the one throwing the pie, it would be sadism.

Actually, if it's not inflicting PAIN, then it is not 'sadism' by definition.

It is however a form of shadenfreude (taking amusement in another's humiliation)...or, psychologically, a form of saluromania (deriving pleasure from seeing someone get soiled somehow).
