I meant that literally. I have given everybody on the UMD a download store. There is no signup process. If you want to sell your vids and pics on the store, just go to your profile and look on the left-hand side for a new set of links under "My Download Store." These links will guide you through uploading content, managing your prices and specials, and seeing all your stats and payouts. We pay you weekly via AlertPay, a money transfer service similar to Paypal that happens to allow adult content. You will see complete instructions, plus info on our fee, content guidelines, signing up to AlertPay, and more when you go to add your content (I call it your "scenes").

The store allows any photo and video content that is normally allowed elsewhere on the UMD--male and female wam, fully clothed to xxx. You can be an amateur wam fan with just a couple of homemade clips, or a big-time producer with a catalog of hundreds of videos. As long as it's your own original content, I welcome you to participate because it is for everybody.

To benefit the UMD community, you may create free image galleries, give away free video trailers, and run specials and buy x get 1's. Don't forget that you can also add all of your models into our database and then associate them with your scenes.

BONUS: Every person who has added at least 5 scenes by next Friday will get 2,000 credits added to their UMD account for use wherever they want. This offer expires Friday, October 9!

I think it's great that it'll now be easier for folks to sell their content, but I fear that this will spell the end for whatever little free content was still being put out there. I hope we will still see some true 'amatuers' posting who just do it cos they love it.

It's certainly an interesting idea, especially for someone to make some quick scratch on the side via self-production.

I'm curious though: what are the boundaries around ownership of the material? (i.e. facebook/snapfish/ photobucket, etc. gets the rights to things you upload.) Does the original owner retain the rights to their stuff, and more importantly, is this written down anywhere?

I think they've been fearing that ever since producers discovered the concepts of the paysite and the download store in the first place. But really, we have seen more free stuff, more teasers and trailers, more high-quality content, more--everything. Take a look at the UMD Picture archive. In this tiny niche of ours, how fortunate is it that we get like 100 new free pics get posted each day? That never happened back in 2002.

Hopefully if anything this concept will bring true amateur wammers out of the woodwork. If they were on the fence, thinking there is little incentive to share their stuff, maybe this will push them over the edge. And I've built plenty of opportunities in the store for them to add free pics and trailer vids. I'm always open to suggestions if you think it could encourage them more.

Yes, the producer retains full copyright on his content. You can check out the UMD terms of service page under "Download Store and Refund Policy." You basically give us the right to store, duplicate, and distribute your content. You are in no way transferring us ownership of your stuff. You can take your content off of the storefront at any time, and you also may totally delete it from the UMD server yourself, after its use has expired from all paying customers.

Yep, your info was indeed saved. I found the prob and fixed it. I think the slowness is due to something happening over at my host. Everything on the site itself checks out. I'm in communication with them now. BTW, can't wait to see you add some scenes, LIb!

I used FTP to upload the clip but when it came to changing the permissions to "777" in FTP I was denied the change as it said the file did not exist. I then waited for the file to appear im My Profile. Closed the FTP to refresh but upon opening the FTP the file I just uploaded was not there!!

I've now deleted the file off My Profile and will start again (with smaller files) to see exactly where the issues are.

Issue resolved (I think!) I would like to see though the file still showing in the FTP after the file is uploaded and FTP closed. Just in case the permissions is overlooked. At the moment, once you close the FTP, the file disappears from the pane.

On a seperate note (those who have not used FTP before) in the host part it should read

The server to connect to is "ftp.umd.net". and not "umd.net".

Yup! I see the file in your bin! Hmmm, works from umd.net as far as I can tell. Were you forced to add the "ftp."?

The reason why the files disappear from FTP is because once every minute, UMD scans every user's FTP account, and if it finds files there, it takes them and moves them into your bin. Then it creates video frames from them so they're ready for you to add to your store. If it is successfully moving the files, then permissions isn't an issue anyway. In fact, it may not be an issue for anyone and I might take that notice down. Thanks for your input Lib.

"Some" sites do prefer the "ftp." so added it when I set up the account. Tested without the ftp. and...

...it worked ok!

Once the file is uploaded via FTP the file appears in My Profile within minutes. The file in FTP then vanishes. All seems fine then if "permissions" is not required.

Right....time to upload!!

Although I already have a store on Clips4Sale, I think this is just sooo cool.

What I like about it is the fact that it's open to everybody.

I got the urge to put something on it. I can't say for sure what I'll use just yet, but it's mighty hard to say no when I do have stuff from various mudpits dating back about three years now, and that store for me is just sitting there, looking like it's empty...and hungry...it needs to be fed.
